Hi, I am new here. Was searching for a pedigree type board. I really know nothing about the subject. I keep my horses at home, and primarily trail ride.
By chance, (which I really don't believe in) I just found out that my 22 yr old $600 thoroughbred is a direct descendant of War Admiral. He was raced some as a 3 yr old and won a few times.
I am just tickled about this as War admiral and Man o War have always been by favorites! Anyway, just how important is this information, or is it really only recreational for me, since he is now being my trail horse?
Either way, I think it is cool, but am just wondering. Thanks all! I'll go read some other posts now,
Loretta

Hi Loretta, I added your horse's pedigree to the db here -
http://www.pedigreequery.com/schnap's+turn Is he a Texas bred? His grandsire was standing in the TX panhandle during the 1980's. If you enjoy reading about War Admiral & the other illustrious names in his pedigree tbheritage is a sight you might enjoy visiting if you haven't found it already.

Loretta,
You might also be interested to know your horse traces tail-male (sire's sire's sire) to Bold Ruler, the sire of Secretariat.
His dam is a granddaughter of Turn-To (which you probably gathered from the dam's name Turn To Squaw), and she also has some Man O' War on her side of the pedigree through a daughter, Galleon Gold, in addition to being a descendent of Triple Crown winner Count Fleet.
As long as I'm dropping famous names, your horse also has Bull Dog, Tom Fool, and at least two crosses of Carbine. Carbine was a New Zealand bred stallion who figured prominently in Phar Lap's pedigree.
