my little QH yearling just ate a little plastic bag, I tried to grab it but he spooked and kept chewing and before I even got a little hold of it he swallowed it.....o boy I don't do stupid things too often but this is one major one. He is not stressed or anything, the vet is to call me back, so is my homeopath but in the meantime I have to do something. He is grazing happily but I am just waiting for a dissaster to happen.
Any advice is greatly apriceated......to call me stupid (not that I gave it to him) is not going to help I am already telling that to myself for the last 20 minutes.....
Thanks
please help!!!!!

THANK YOU Larrygene, that is so far what everybody I managed to talk to said but I am still paranoid, haven't heard from the vet yet, my homeopath said the only case she knows was a big grocery bag and it had to be removed surgically........that is what happens when I have a bit money saved.........
thanks again

I wouldn't be too concerned, my show hunter ate an entire box of one dozen individually wrapped honey buns!!!! He did have sense enough to spit out the pieces of box, but down went all 12 plastic wrappers. He was fine, and quite smug about the whole episode. The look on his face plainly said "If I can reach it, it's fair game, and if it crinkles....it's FOOD!".
He was at a show at the time, both the on-call vet and my own said not to worry. If it bothered him he never let us know. And I'd bet my life he'd merrily do it again!
Good Luck!

This too shall pass.
That is one of the funniest damned comments I have read in a LONG time!!!
Just imagine what they ingest when you are NOT around to see it ...
I would think he will be just fine as well ...

thank you for all your comments. I feel much better then I did when I saw that plactic disapear into his mouth....my next mission will be checking under his tail frequently plus hunting for bits of yucky plastic in every poop in his pasture for next few days.....guess that load won't be organic to go in my garden...

Hold your peace - LMAO
Thanks for that!
I remember finding plastic grocery bags in yearlings manure at a standardbred farm I used to work at. Their paddock was adjacent to several residences. I was amazed to see that the bags came out safely (in relatively good condition I might add
). I would syringe some oil into your horse as a safe-guard.

All's well that end's well
Keep us posted on the outcome!
One time our old lab ate a dishful of hershy kisses at Easter so they were wrapped in the pretty pastel color foil - her poop glittered for a week - made the yard sure sparklie (and if you know me - you know I like sparklies - but not that kind)!
Seriously - hope he is doing okay!
