Major Happy Dance time

Postby Laurierace » Mon Jul 30, 2007 3:02 pm

I took Lisa (Liso Y Sedoso) to New Bolton today for the surgery on her ankle. The prep work was going to be done today and the actual surgery tomorrow with her hopefully coming home on Wednesday. On a whim I asked how long it would be before she went to radiology. I knew it was virtually impossible but I was still hoping that her chip had healed since it was non displaced. We waited a while for them to finish up xraying a Giselle! and then it was her turn.
Dr. Richardson called Olivia, my 11 year old daughter and I into the consult room. They had taken a zillion views of both legs and there was nothing there!!! He said if she was his horse he would take her back to the track tomorrow! What a miracle, and it couldn't have come at a better time.
I have a theory, I think that those couple of months she spent on spring break in KY fooling around with the guys might have done the trick. KY is known for its limestone soil with high calcium levels. Truthfully I don't care what did the trick, I am just so glad that my girl can safely get back to work and resume her position as the star of the barn.
For you Dr. Dean fans, he was wonderful as usual, sharing pony club stories with Olivia. It couldn't have been a better experience.

My mind is still reeling. She had a chip which almost never goes away without surgical intervention. It may or may not cause lameness, but it won't go away. The fact that it was non displaced helped but still unlikely to heal. The bone cyst is supposed to be unfixable even with surgery. Both are gone. I'm telling you they kept shooting more views thinking they must be missing it, but it just wasn't there. I am feeling touched by an angel at the moment!

I once had a heart sonogram, that showed a kind of harmless "dent". 3 years later I had another and he couldn't find it. Poof. Gone.
I attributed it to being too strong to have a BROKEN heart.

Perhaps the Vet that diagnosed chip saw something that wasn't their. Wouldn't be the first or the last.

Whooo hooo. Not only is she good to go and no surgery expense and risk, she and you don't have to go through rehab.

My own first thought on reading "Giselle" was that this was the offspring of a new hot sire I had missed hearing about somehow!

No it was definitely there as was the bone cyst in the back of the ankle. We had several views that showed it. That is why they kept taking view after view on Monday to make sure they weren't missing anything. It was non displaced which means it was a small fracture line as opposed to a piece of bone that had become unattached from the rest of the bone. You could see where the small fracture line had been on the new xrays because it is denser than the rest of the area. You could also see the outline of where the cyst had been but it had now filled itself in. The miracle explanation works for me!
