Stallion with best females in 4 generations

Postby jagger » Sun Mar 23, 2008 9:34 pm

The highest GSV thread was pretty fun so I thought about another idea.

Which stallion has the best females in the first 4 generation and the arbitrary measuring stick will be measured by the most Stakes winners produced by each mare in the first 4 generations on top and bottom. A quick count gave A.P. Indy the best I could find. The mares in his first 4 generations have produced 45 Stakes winners. Anybody top that?

His dam and both granddams are reines and 10 of 15 are reines de course. The first 3 mares on the bottom side are double copies.

Bluegrass Cat, Bandini, Bernstein, Sky Mesa, Dayjur, Dr. Caton, Easing Along, Honour and Glory, Jump Start, Leroidesanimaux, Master Command, Mingun, Mutakddim, Pulpit, Rahy, Royal Academy, Seeking the Gold and Sky Mesa all jump to mind when looking at the quality of female families in each line of their pedigrees.

I'm sure most are comparable and some might even tally a little better than A.P. Indy, especially those with him in their pedigree coupled with other significant lines.

stallion with best females

Postby jagger » Mon Mar 24, 2008 11:48 am

All great pedigrees no doubt but can any of those above mentioned stallions challenge A.P.'s amazing total of 45 stakes winners from the first 4 generations of the females in the pedigree? I think all but 2 of the 15 females in A.P.'s contributed to the total of 45. How many of those mentioned have a dam and both granddams that are reines de course? Some may match his total of 10 reines in the first 4 generations - perhaps. I think his double copy mares, 8, might be equalled or even exceeded but for total stakes winners followed by close up reines and total reines, I'm not sure he can be beat.

Mustang Jock

Bushel-n-Peck

Bold Irish

Flaming Page
Lady Be Good

Jock has 8 reines and 2 immediate double copies and 3 later single
copies in the first 5 generations. Not bad for a stallion standing for
$1000.

Aldebaran has 14 champions in his first 4 dams. I have never added up the number of stakes winners, though.

I think Bluegrass Cat may challenge in the years to come as he has an astounding 14 of 15 double copy mares and the dam and both granddams my be deemed reines by Ellen Parker and he already has 8 or 9 reines but the total of 45 stakes winners is still going to be tough to beat.

A worthy contender, CS, but just 32 Stakes winners by quick count.

Interestingly though, in an extended 4 generation pedigree (from Sept last year - an equineline report 44B) he had 78 stakes winners.

Wow!! I'm not exactly sure how that number was derived. I think it depends on what the definition of "extended" pedigree is. I am just using the numbers mentioned in the profile of the mares on this forum.

I thought you were standing a son of A.P., Keith. But I thought you lived in Indiana. Must be mistaking you with someone else.

It would take forever to check all those stallions but I really haven't found anyone close if the first standard of measure is # of stakes winners out of mares in the first 4 generations. Bluegrass Cat has an amazing 14 double copies - out of a possible 15 and he may end up with more reines.
