A Ride for Thoroughbred Racehorses

Postby fearan » Fri Oct 31, 2008 12:20 pm

Hey guys--

I would like to let everyone know that I am planning a 1250 mile ride from Wyoming to Louisville, KY this summer in order to raise money for Thoroughbred Retirement Charities. Right now I am in the brainstorming stage--namely, getting the route planned and coming up with likely sponsors. I am also trying to get the word out about this ride, as the more publicity I get the more money I can raise to help out TB's.

If you are interested in helping out, please see my blog at http://1000kentuckyderbies.wordpress.com/. I will be updating the blog regularly as I prepare for this adventure.

Thank you and God bless! :)

That's a great idea. I'm sure the media will build as you get closer to KY.

You might want to look at Bernice Ende's website:

www.endeofthetrail.com

She got a very minor sponsorship but kept the whole thing going by stopping and talking to people along the way, schools in particular. She had an education background, so that was fairly natural for her. I don't know if it would work for you.

She did, by the way, ride an OTTB mare, on both her trips, but traveled with a Fjord mare as a pack horse as well the second time around.

You don't need to find a million bucks to do this. Good luck.
