La 2 year old filly that foaled at the track is in today

Postby TomFool » Fri Jan 02, 2009 12:16 pm

Tigered Eyed the now 3 year old filly that not knowingly in foal had a filly last Aug in her stall @ the FG is in today in the 4th race @ the FG in a md 30k state bred. It should be interesting to see how she performs as she has been working steady for good connections.

i'm watching Fair Grounds. I don't thinks he won the 4th. I'm also watching the cotton bowl so I could be wrong.

Oh, bdw . . . if that horse foaled last year, I'm pretty sure it wasn't a he . . .

they didn't care for the foal, why would you think they would care who the father was?

Well they probably think the mares are being slutty for responding to the teasers. It's like on Maury, they figure she responds to another 'guy' it suddenly means all the breeding shed happenings don't count. 'There's 100% no chance it's mine, man!' Hmm, well dude, unless you're shooting blanks, or War Emblem, you're a contender...

I could see AP indy and Distorted Humor on Maury now. "she's not mine, she doesn't even get a good Truenick rating with me, I would never bred to her!"

Reminds me of what happened to a friend's QH mare. She was booked to a stud, everything was ready to go. Well she was out in her field and in heat (ooops on the farm)...a Paso Fino stud got loose and into her field so the story goes. My friend was pi**ed off to say the least because the resultant foal was a bizarre hybrid. Poor baby was informally named "Who's My Daddy?"

What I don't get about the story is how could they not notice she was pregnant? That's like not noticing an elephant.

It is not that easy to tell with young maidens. When I was a kid, our trainer (a well respected horseman and breeder) told us a mare was empty and this was confirmed by the vet. She foaled 345 days after cover.

A few years ago a foal was born at Aqueduct. The groom came in in the a.m. and there it was. News made the DRF. They just counted back 11 months to discover she was having a rest at a farm. I don't think they bothered registering the August foal and they had to test a rather large number of candidates....
