I don't post often, but I read everything, and Tin Cup Chalice has by far been one of my favorite stories to follow. His story was absolutely inspiring, and I am sitting here in tears reading this update. He meant a lot to a lot of people.

I am so sorry for your loss.

My most sincere sympathies - I feel ill getting this news, so I can only imagine how shell shocked the people who are closer to Tin Cup and this horrible accident must be feeling. I'm so sorry!

I enjoyed following the story of TCC as much as the next person - it was inspiring to read the stories about this gutsy guy who defied the odds again and again. As someone said earlier, we felt like we owned a little part of him through this thread. When I got the call while leaving work I was in disbelief. My condolences go out to you, Mike, Pedro and everyone involved.

I just got the email update from the blood horse.
I'm so very very sorry for your loss.
I just have no words to adequately say what I'd like to.
RIP heroic TCC. :(

I just popped on to catch up before a night out and I cannot believe my eyes. This day has been absolutely horrendous in that 2 more young equine lives were taken far before their time. There will be no night out for us.
This thread was awesome because I drug my husband into the drama of it all too. A real story involving a courageous horse (who also was a Bid grandkid) who didn't seem to know the words no or can't. Rest in peace Tin Cup Chalice and many condolences to your human family.
trying to come up with something brillant..... this may take a while. :)

Couldn't say it better, exactly how I feel.

I want to thank the connections for sharing TCC's stories with us over here over the many months he was racing....as a result, many feel close to this horse and have grown to love him!

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Just adding my condolences because really, there are no words.

I'm glad at least that you had him to enjoy for as long as you did. And I'm even gladder that he had you.

Thank you to every one for your condolences, it is very much appreciated. I spoke with Mike late last night and he was pretty worn down from all the interviews he did. We have had more media coverage surrounding his death then we did his life, which I think is unfortunate. I can’t say we are doing any better up here. I wanted to go on At the Races with Steve Byk but it was during a bad spell for me and I knew I wouldn’t be able to get out many words. I appreciate his kind words at the beginning of his show. When my local paper called later in the night I had pulled it together more and I thought they captured the joy he gave me and how loved he was.

The autopsy did confirm he had a broken vertebrae and shoulder. I think everyone knew that but if you had watched him fight through illness before you knew his survival instinct so that’s why we tried for as long as we did. He will be laid to rest in the infield near the finish line at Finger Lakes.

I have had my share of heartache in this industry but I just don’t know how it could get worse. It’s sounds terrible but I can’t ever recall being this distraught. Even over the death of friends and relatives. I guess that’s because he was both to me.

I just saw the news report -- so dreadfully, dreadfully sorry. This horse was family to the PQ community and had such an exciting future ahead of him. To lose him in a freak accident like that -- I cannot imagine how shattering that would be. There are no words to express the feelings.
