There's some decent offerings. I think I may finally put a mare in the pasture when all is said and done. Should be interesting to see if the prices remain steady or if they follow Kentucky and dip in a big way.

It would be difficult to imagine that the TB market in Ocala is more immune to economic conditions than the one in Kentucky.
The prices in Ocala were never that high. Less room to fall. It's also a much smaller sale with less offerings.
I know buyers are headed there including some overseas, especially Korean. I don't think the numbers are going to be considerably lower than last year. But we'll see. I hope they are from a selfish perspective.

The economy had fully tanked before last year's sale so this sale had it's 30% percent correction last year.
The sale is also smaller than last year, having just one preferred and one open session this year, so that should help it some too.
It will probably still be down a little from last year but I don't expect it to be down another 30%.
I think the market will be softest for mares, so there should indeed be some buys if you're looking for mares. I can't imagine there being much in the way of reserves on most mares cataloged because people should know darn well that there is not going to be a lot of money there for mares and it would be silly to have a mare in this sale unless you're willing to let them go for whatever.
If sellers have a really nice weanling I think there will still be decent money for it (not great money, but decent money) and people selling weanlings can afford to have decent reserves on them as it's not going to cost a fortune to bring them home and wait for a yearling sale next year hoping the horse improves and that the economy improves.

I was surprised the numbers came out as bad as they did because there were more people looking at weanlings than last year and there seemed to be good action, but I guess all the action was on a few horses and lots of stuff had no market at all. You couldn't give away most of the mares, but that has more to do with the mares on offer than anything else because I know when I looked through the catalog I did not see many mares that would interest me in the least.
