Captain Olson, is the most Texas Bred horse I've seen. I always wanted to breed to Easiersaid "sp"

I know what you mean. I got lucky enough to become friends with C. Barnett years ago and when she offered me a daughter of Mineisthesunit I jumped at the chance. I've had an awful lot of fun with her babies and kept the Captain's full sister as a broodmare.

Glad to see this post has caused us to start talking again!

Bottom line is that I want to put myself out there to help all of the texas horse, TTA, HBPA, and every other group that's about improving things for Texas.

I must admit, I have heard from some very nice people from the texas horse group. and I honestly believe that their intentions are for all of us.

The error is looking to the politicians to help us, and not we help ourselves. Now I'm not silly enough to believe that we don't need political help, I just think that coming to the plate begging is the wrong approach again.

I think we should work with the management staff of the tracks as an example. I know i've talked about it in the past, but the folks at Retama had a GREAT idea! I couldn't believe how many people were at that track on a Saturday night, it was awesome!

My challenge to my peers here would be how about 10-15 of us volunteer to go the track and help with educating the new people about the betting schemes, reading the programs and forms, etc.

It's real easy to sit back and talk about the long lines they had, but it's more challenging to want to offer some help. Personally, I'd be willing to serve some hot dogs and beer! Help myself to some leftovers too!

I think we can do some great things for the state, and for the industry.

The posting of the facts from past legislative sessions on the slots or nothing agenda should hit all of us square in the forehead, and send us a message! How many will listen?

WE CAN'T COME AWAY EMPTY HANDED AGAIN!!!!!!

Singles, Doubles, Homeruns, whatever, but we have to come out of this with something! Well, maybe I shouldn't say something....because the flat wood analogy and the mushroom example, you end up with SOMETHING, but I don't want that something! :)

That is the best assortment of items for the auction yet -- every year you guys make a great leap forward. Everyone can find something on that list that they would love to have and all for a good cause. Well done LOPE.

Thanks! We have a lady that does a fantastic job at getting donations, plus she always donates a bunch of things herself.

We could always use in's if someone has connections to possible donors.

Thank you to everyone here who has supported us the last FOUR years with this show and auction!

Anybody have any runners at Lone Star tonight? I'm heading out for an evening at Silks and would love to cheer for the PQ team :) .

Kite Seeker runs in the 7th tonight at Lone Star. I will not be able to be there, but some of our partners will be there to cheer her on.

I'll post this on the buying/selling forum after I get all the details, but Randy Mayfield has a Captain Countdown yrlng he'll sell for the cost of registration (I believe is 200.00). They're supposed to text me info. on the dam, but he's a little busy today with the quarantine stuff at Lone Star.

What an unfortunate situation for Calhoun :(

Congrats on the win, unfortunately I left the house before I saw that!
I was wondering why the Calhoun horses were all scratched--how bizarre. Hope all the horses will be ok and the disease will be contained. Think I would spread Diatomaceous Earth around the perimeter of the barns, though the ticks could be coming in with the hay, I suppose.

Thanks, you have got to like Kite Seekers pedigree and ability to win at a the 1 ½ distance. She has been able to get her last two wins at 1 mile as well.

Hate to see all the scratches last night. Let's hope no more horses test positive.

Does anyone have any information about LS and SH combining dates next year and Retama running a shorter meet; which I am guessing will this year. We are never going to get those dates back I'm afraid. I know it was being discussed.

Just read on a facebook posting that LOPE has raised at least $ 9,000 from the show and the auction activities. Wonderful news. There was also a very nice long article about Lynn and the facility in the Austin American Statesman today. Good to have some good news to report for a change.

Calhoun's barn clear of quarantine. Clerical error.
