Dancer's Image as Stallion

Postby Joltman » Sun Sep 26, 2010 4:51 pm

I always had an affinity for Dancer's Image, taken down from Derby win with a trace of bute in the system at a time when bute was just coming into vogue.

An interesting pedigree I think, save Native Dancer not a whole lot of the names that show up all the time these days.

I wonder if anyone knows whether his line is alive out there some where. From what I gather, most of his get were in Europe or Japan.
Run the race - the one that's really worth winning.

LIANGA, VIA MARIS and several other mares coming from Dancers Image are the only hope. Also, I know there is a top notch champion filly that raced about a decade ago that descends from Dancers Image but I don't have the name at hand. Until then, here is a consolation:

I earnestly appreciate your find and hope he is being used as a sire. The only setback is that he is already 11 years old with no apparent progeny.

Tarquin Silk (1999) http://www.pedigreequery.com/tarquin+silk

Steady Eddy (1989) http://www.pedigreequery.com/progeny/steady+eddy

Go Dancer (1979) http://www.pedigreequery.com/progeny/go+dancer

Any update on this lineage?

Hallo,
Dancer's Image daughter "Bring Me Flowers" was the dam of the Top 2 yearold Bluegrass Native (by Highland Park). He took up stallion duties and died in 2002, only left a handful of Foals. From the same damline was imported to Germany, "Dshamilja" (By Golden Act).

So is it possible, that a strain will "survive" in Germany,
Regards, Bettina

Ages ago there was a hard knocking son of Robellino out of a Dancers Image mare - his name was Sudden Flare.

http://www.pedigreequery.com/sudden+flare

He was a 2x Stakes Winner and 5x Stakes placed, finishing up his career as a claimer at Delaware Park for trainer Terry Griffith and owner Peter Boland, of Columbus Corporation Manufacturing. I groomed him in 1992 or so. After his racing career he stood at stud at the then Reigle Heir farm with a handful of foals - I havent followed them. I dont think he was well promoted.

Story was this horse worked 1:10 in the morning as a 2 yo and by the time he was 3 or so he was sore as heck. Terry claimed him for owner Peter Boland as a project horse - thinking "if we can get him right/sound we've really got something." When we had him he had knees, ankles and hocks, he would walk out of the gate and take 3-4 strides to really get all the legs going the right direction, but once he got in gear watch out! He would roll on past the competition. I have a win pic from Delaware during twilight racing (3:00 first post time, no lights @ Del then) where he won and the sky was almost black. He was a neat horse, thanks for the trip down memory lane.
