Bought myself 1/2 A racehorse!

Postby Shannon » Fri Sep 17, 2004 6:09 pm

I bought myself into a racehorse last weekend. Bought a half share in my mares 1st foal, and we will race him next year in the fall (he's a June 12 baby so will likely not start until fall 2005) Name is Taylor Made High x Whos Bad QH. I am very excited!

:D Congratulations :!:

Take good care of him. Is it a 50/50 partnership? Will you have say over decisions?

CONGRATS! June 12 is an excellent day for a foal to be born, since it is my darlin Darrens birthday also! FWIW we had a first time starter who was also a June 12 foal run and win Sept 11 as a 2 yo.

May I ask if this is a QH race horse or a Thoroughbred ? Can't find him in my database.

Congratulations, Shannon! Partnerships are a great way to share successes (and expenses) with friends. We always developed tight bonds with our partners and every race day became a party, win or lose.

So your horse is an appendix QH, correct? What track(s) will you compete at?
So many pedigrees...so little time. (C)

He is an appendix QH gelding, barn name Winston. We will most likely run him here in BC for the most part as one local (1 1/2 away) is updating their facility and bringing QH racing here back to life. He may well run in Alberta as well at Lethbridge and Grande Prairie as he is eligible for the Alberta $100,000 Futurity as a 2 YO and the Derby as a 3 YO. I guess we'll wait and see what he tells us he wants to do! My partner is a vet that I work for so I have no worries of him being pushed too hard or run into the ground. The trainer owns the stud so he'll want him to do well too. We ran him through a sale in Lehbridge last weekend and prices were just not there for him so we decided to give it a shot ourselves. I think he's got a lot of potential and if not, I need a new riding horse soon!! I will keep all informed as we progress. Right now he is enjoying pasture life and being a baby. Reg'd name is Taylor Made High.
