Camelot is not a feed lot per say,,but an auction, every week many TB's some of them well bred and or well raced end up there. This colt had only the killer bid on him, like a lot of others. He has papers is a Penn bred. With the slots in Penn could'nt someone get him out of there?
And i am back asking:isn't it time to slow down breeding cheap horses if there is no market for them??
Look at him, what are his chances? So young...

Yes, it is an auction but my understanding is that these horses listed didn't sell privately and are now in feedlot pen # 10. If not sold by Saturday, they will ship for slaughter.

Unfortunately history has shown that doesn't always mean much depending on the organization.

True enough just as in dog rescue but in this case an organization prompted an individual to obtain this particular horse.

This just gives reason to why I keep argueing with some folks to stop their breeding. Why in the living hell are people breeding "Just to Breed" when there are enough idiots out there doing that resulting in the poor animal, the majestic horse, being stuffed onto a feedlot?

If you cannot be responsible for them for the REST OF THEIR LIVES THEN DO NOT BREED!!!!! This is why this industry is going downhill fast. Friends of mine that when I mention horse racing to them, they cringe because the information is getting out there about what is happening to these poor horses!

Sylvie Hebert, you said it, time to stop breeding cheap horses. They can't help they have been brought into the world. It's the humans that are creating the hell for these animals. Spend a day watching what happens to these horses, or even look up on the internet and there are plenty of videos that will make you sick to your stomach.

If those of you want to breed your mare, instead consider going to the auctions instead, we purchased 2 very well bred fillies at Keeneland for an incredible price. There are horses there at a variety of costs, the richy rich set of course get the highly bred ones, pay millions of dollars, but as a reminder, Queen Zenyatta only went for 60K! Look how she turned out.

Give the horses that are here NOW a chance. Don't breed.
We will NEVER see another Ruffian......

Def. too many cheap horses being bred. I see horses culled regularly that have GOOD bloodlines and then a certain element of breeder insists on breeding every cheap mare and stallion with pedigrees of Who is that? with no or bad records. What the heck do they expect to happen to thos ehorses. they aren't bred to be the least bit competitive and not necessarily bred for good looks either. And more often than not these are the very breeders who refuse to help them later on either.

Ah but I'm preaching to the choir here.

Guess the name of this horse:

dam had a record of 32/6/4/2 winning $34,133, second dam's record was 4/1/00 with $2,600 in earnings and best horse produced was the 1st dam with $34,133 in winnings

Sire won $189,567 in 12 starts [12/8/2/0] and produced two big horses

Sire was o/o a mare that had a 16/2/1/0 recordwith 6,075 in winnings

Sire's second dam was never raced and who never produced anything..

Yep
and thats why people bred racehorses because a stakes, Graded horse can come from nowhere.
