FREUD AND GIANTS CAUSEWAY are full brothers
giant--- 297-----111-----26----16------19-------8-----1-----5,700,000
freud---116------55------16-----4-------8--------1-----0-----2,500,000
x2.56
freud---297------141-----41----10------21-------3-----0-----6.400,000
freud has fewer runners but when scaled up to match those of his brother with most likely a better book, the numbers are quite comparable if not in freuds favor -------(from sire list)(1 and 66)
even when you compare --runners -----winners and stakes winners they are similar 75-72%------51-46%------7-8%
so why is freud $7500 ----and giant $85000 ??
freud /giant causeway

Because that is what people will pay?
Certainly Giant's Causeway has had more opportunity, and better opportunity, than Freud but the reason that his stud fee is 85K is because his results have been of a much higher quality. GC has sired 107 stakes winners, Freud has 26. GC has sired 55 graded stakes winners, Freud has 3. That's a big difference.
Giant's Causeway's offspring generally compete at the best tracks and in the best races around the world. Most of Freud's offspring race in NY-bred company. A Little League coach and and MLB coach don't make the same salary--even if their win percentage is the same.
GC is currently ranked #1 on the General Sire's List with earnings of 5.7M for the year so far. Freud is #66 with earnings of 2.5M. GC has 8 graded stakes winners this year (and had 10 last year). Freud currently has 1 (and had 1 last year). Breeders who want to aim big need a stallion who can take them there, and they're willing to pay for that.

Here's a timely write-up on Freud as a racehorse and sire compared to his brother:

Frankly, I think Freud is very well placed as he is. His progeny have shown that they can do well in the NY bred program and the fact that he can sometimes come up with a horse capable of competing at the top level just sweetens the pot for those thinking of breeding to him. If he had to compete in Kentucky it would be a lot tougher sledding.
