Shergar: CC's mare, Swiss Prospector, was definitely a claimer's Blue Hen. I read your post yesterday morning and had to laugh later in afternoon as I was going through some halters and found a head stall with a Crafty Prospector foal's name plate. Had forgotten it was there. The leather is quite brittle and worn now. Time flies doesn't it? Must have been Broad Brush that gave CC his winning and running longevity though you count discount the 14a mare line? Artax, Charlottesville, etc.

. . . You lost me on the Broad Brush reference as CC does not have BB in his family tree.

 I meant Blushing Groom. Organizational thinking has not been one of my better personal qualities.

Must put in a word for The Tatling, former Group 2 and Group 3 winning sprinter, who at the age of 14 ran in his 178th, and final, race at Wolverhampton today on the polytrack.

Miraculously, he managed to get up in the last stride to win the 5f handicap under top weight.

He retires with earnings of around £688k.

Now that is what I call a hard-knocker.

Great stuff -do they celebrate these runners over the side of the pond?

This is what the Racing Post wrote.

What a great horse and a credit to his trainer.

Hey Shammy ,Shergar, you want to see a mare who threw stone-cold runners with some good legs? Type in the mare Jack's Ruby and click on "Progeny", it's really quite beyond belief.

Ain't that the truth Shammy? I have Classic Jewel in my back"40" and he is still feisty with cannon bones like oak trees.

Speaking of hard knockers, my mare Outta Luck produced her first winner tonight at Penn National: Roll Dem Bones (by Song of the Sword) is a maiden no more!
