Lost Island is wonderful in every way! Conformation, temperament, pedigree, and movement. Standing at RHF from 3-15 to 6-30-2012.
He has been DNA'd (EE, aa) Homozygus Black.

He like most blacks, was registered as dark bay/brown on his certificate, but the new owners sent
DNA off in January, and he is definitly (EE, aa) Homozygous Black. Paper result on file with RHF.
I can't figure out why some people continue to believe that black doesn't exist in TBs. TBs have a lot of bays, which means that they are black based and we know that not every TB is AA.
I can see not changing the colors of historical horses, but living ones that have tested black (EE, aa) should have their papers changed when the owners submit the test results.

Thank you I just saw that and changed them.
As usual both mares have dark bay/brown listed on their registration certificates.
Both were just DNA'd by myself with Animal Genetics this month and I was very
happy when they both came back (EE, aa) also.
I will be DNAing every one this year we own. I need tham done for
planned breedings, really hoping a couple of my chestnut race pedigreed
mares end up (aa) but they seem rare on my place so far.

I think they must be registering them when they still have their baby fur and have not shed out yet, so they just
put down what they see. It would be nice if the JC would accept a DNA result and a small fee to change the certificate
or at least stamp the certificate or mail a sticker to the owner, other registries do.

They do if you push hard enough ...
My TCF Nightlight mare is registered as black as per her genetic test results. Her first papers came back dark bay/brown. I pushed again, spoke to the registrar, submitted the genetic results again, sent in more pictures and it was changed

Hooray for that Donna!

That is good, but what happens if she throws a dilute TB in the future?
I wonder if the JC will have a problem registering it, because they think she is black.
My turn is coming with R H F Silhouette, trying to get Smoky Black and Frame Overo on her papers, or a clause in her description that
states she is DNA ((nO, Ee, aa, nCr) verified to be so. There was a 3.13% out of 100% she would turn out like she did, and I think it's
time the JC give credit to the Breeders for their efforts.

Well - the Pearlescent mare (perlino) is registered as palomino. THey wont allow bay. She will NEVER breed true as a palomino - EVER - so all sorts of red flags will go up if she is bred to a chestnut and a bay base shows up - right?! Ive explained THAT one time and time again, provided the DNA proof and was given the choice of "white" instead of palomino. No thank you!
There is no more issue with Nightlight being registered as black and throwing a dilute than there is if she is dark bay/brown and throws a dilute - right? The only dilute option open right now is palomino and she sure as heck isnt one of those - right?
