Thanks so much! I made the trip from FL for the first race, wont be able to make this trip though, I just hope she does well and comes back good. She came in 4th first out 2 weeks ago, actually a pretty good effort if you see the race replay. The check for 4th was more than I paid for her as a yearling  and the filly that won was in her 8th race and was a 70K yearling, so I was quite proud of her!! Dont know if she is quite ready for the mile, but 6 F was too short, so we shall see :D

Well, that sucked. 7th out of 9 :( I didnt think she looked like she was ready for a mile when I saw her run before, but you cant tell your trainer that apparently  bad fitness, not a very good ride and a horse that looked like she never took to the grass as well. Poor girl. Scope was great. we'll wait for bloodwork to see if there was any other reason, as least she came back sound and well :)

Relax Walaa, you'll be ok that was a big jump for her and will only serve to give her the foundation to go on and find her best distance, surface and running style. I will be watching with anticipation ,just keep her sound and happy.

Thanks :) I just thought it was too big of a jump. They keep saying , she needs more distance, she'll run all day. I was there in person for her first race, and there was nothing AT ALL , that came from that performance that said, man, if only I had had 2 more furlongs  it was more like, Thank God that was it :) I was just a little suprised that in 2 weeks he thinks she would do so well in a mile? She looked completely exhausted after her 6 furlong out 2 weeks ago. Its just disappointing, not for me but for the horses. I hope they are fit enough to keep running, and it could be they just dont want to be racehorses in the end, some dont :) But they have been in training for almost 15 months now, and they sure dont seem anywhere near as fit as the horses blowing by them in the gallopouts after the race. He probably wont want them in his barn if they put in a few more performances like that anyways, :D so we'll see. I now its only her 2nd race, but at 5K a month, we just cant afford to keep them training so they can break their maiden in their 10th try or something, I expected to see a little more than last place, to get some glimmer of hope that we can keep them a little longer before dropping them to 5K mc. But I will keep my hope up, we have a couple more months, after that if they cant compete, we just cant pay these training bills anymore

What wilf said. They are also only just three year olds. It is possible that they were just not physically mature enough to really train seriously until fairly recently. It is to the trainer's credit if he has had these fillies since the spring of their two year old year and they have not chipped up their knees, bucked their shins or broken down. It takes a lot of patience. Your fillies went off in their first start as second choice which speaks that they had got some respect by the bettors.

I have a four year old I just sent up a month or so a go to a pal in Indiana with a little training center that is a whole lot cheaper than having her at the track. At four, we don't have the same kind of concerns about knees and shins, so once we get her attitude adjusted and her head straightened out we can step into her pretty well. I don't expect her first start to be 15 months away, but she is four, not two.

One other consideration is what is going on right now with the track at Indiana Downs. It was shut down and racing cancelled last Friday for being just flat out awful. My pal ran a mare there Monday night and it was like concrete, and Tuesday night another mare of his got buried at the rail in what was like a knee deep ploughed field. Indiana Downs is in bankruptcy and the casino has changed hands I believe. Everything there is in a flux right now. No money, no maintenance.

The track did seem bad the day I was there when they both raced. Little Rose did get buried on the rail, track said fast, but the rail was really deep and wet looking, she ran her heart out for 5 furlongs though :) Star got stuck on the rail this ride, saw her get checked a couple of times, didnt get to the outside till too late, but she never got running anyways, so maybe the ride didnt matter. Well they are doing well and still sound, and they looked like he was taking really good care of all his horses. he has only had them a couple months, they were in Ocala until April breaking and training. It is wonderful they took their time, Roise is a peanut and Star is huge, so they did have to take breaks a couple of times in the last year, so we will see how they do next time, thanks for the wishes!

Super! Congratulations Walaa! As a fellow small owner who gets nervous paying the monthly bills and staying patient to get some results, I know how gratifying a win like that really is. This should put some wind back in your sails to press on with both fillies!

Savor it - many can attest to how elusive an early maiden win at a lucrative level can be. May both fillies stay happy, healthy and competitive for you!

Congratulations! I watched the replay and that was a gutsy performance! You must be over the moon! :) (I love her blaze too, what a cutie she is.)
