Hi bdw,
It's not your typical Travers with TC winners in the field and horses contending for 3YO of the year honors....but it's what we are offered as this 3YO picture continues to fall apart. Although they may not look like the caliber of horse that belongs in here...there are some decent late developing types who may stand up and be counted....Street Life, Neck n Neck, Nonios and Atigun. Only one GR 1 winner in the entire race (Liason and that was when he was a 2YO) and a total of two 3YO's still standing after making a run for the Roses, Alpha and Liason....it's not a total loss. In my opinion, Alpha is a decent little horse and hasn't really run a bad race...unless he was acting up in the gate.....and he's only been beaten once by a neck while Ramon Dominguez was on board. u know i love big racing days as much as anyone but i have a gripe; these cards that start like at 10am and crap this isn't going to work. they just act like you don't have anything whatsoever to do that day and beucase they are running a big race your entire life should stop. 10am on a Saturday just isn't going to work i don't care what horse is running. if im' not in the gym i'm sleeping in the one real day that i can sleep in. and shoot someone like crystal lol 10am that's sleep intermission time let alone you wanting to run actual horse races this early in the morning.
like when i was a kid, every saturday we had a baseball game at 10:30am like clockwork. then when i got in school basketball practice was 8am to 11:30am. saturday morning is the time that normla people do.. stuff. kids, birthday party, wash clothes, clean the house, whatever.

I think that the 1962 Travers ranked as the premium photo-finish

madelyn wrote:Wonder how the owners of the winners felt? Now how is that purse split? 60% to the winners - does that mean 30% each? Where does the 20% for 2nd go ? or is that added to the 1st place and then split? Come on, someone here MUST know. Thanks
from what i understand the way this works (I think) is in the event of a dead heat, the first and 2nd place purses are combined and then split. I think. don't take that as gospel but i think that is how it works
what i am interested in knowing is how did they paint the little jockey in the lake lol. they had started working on it in the last few hours of HRTV but did not finish it. do they paint half and half?

Hi Madelyn,
It's as you thought. They add both first and second money together and get 80% of the purse which is divide between the two winner's....$400,000 each, 3rd earns 100,000, 4th earns 50,000 5th earns 30,000 and all the rest receive 3,334 dollars each. TJ

Hi bdw,
The jockey isn't in the lake....the canoe is:>) There will be two painted canoes in the infield lake as of Tuesday, with the colors of each winner. The jockey's are in the paddock and there will be two of them as well. TJ
Check out the painted jocks:

Hi bdw,
When they asked Dutrow when Willie would run back...Dutrow said he’s not sure when or where Willy Beamin will run next but assured it won’t be any time this week:>) TJ
