new colors

....anyone interested enough to organize a petition? Or possibly a sychronized mailing to include anyone interested and who has a horse who's color is incorrectly identified on it's papers? I have 5 of them myself.....
An occaisional request obviously isn't enough to get it done. It's either send some of your buckskins to the race track or send enough letters to make it seem worthwhile. Just a thought.....

Yes that is a way to go! You should all stick together so they see how many there are! At the end once all colors are through and they get an oder by the International Convention they MUST do so. Why dont you contact the International Convention people yourself and put in a complaint? I will get the details tomorrow as now the office is closed. I think it is not correct that the JC in USA is not doing what have become a rule now.

BTW when the International Convention was to discuss about the Palomino color, the JC of USA was the only one that voted AGAINST it. But they had to follow and that is now the same case! They just ignore the rules, which say that every TB has to be registered with their correct color! It must be determined by a color testing but that is not a problem for any of you.

Thanks, Gwen for all the good information! If you could pm any of the details to me, I feel that I have a good relationship with someone at the Jockey Club here in the states. Anyone that has an incorrectly registered horse/color, shoot me the horses name and I will make a list. I can drive over to the Jockey Club offices and maybe meet with them in person. Maybe Gwen's information will help. Thanks to all.

Stick together and stand up for your rights!

Hi,

If that can help for the debate....
My 2011 buckskin colt, sired by The Gold Fox, is registered buckskin on his France Galop papers (French JC).
Snowman, who looks all white, came from GF in Germany with a passport with grey written on it : I made it change, France Galop made DNA tests which was saying he is palomino, the passport came back to the Direktorium in Germany (German JC) where they re-edited a passport with palomino color on it.
And my two true black overo mare and filly are both registered black skewbald on their papers.

I don't think we have a program like the UK where you can breed partbreds in over generations. But if somebody over there (or wherever they have such a program) did it then that horse would have to be accepted by all JC stud books if imported to the USA? Is that correct?

There are actually already horses that are basically app colored TBs, they are just registed in the ApHC of co urse. SO perhaps one could start with one of those that is a few spot and breed to TBs. Well perhaps a herd of nice few spot or sno cap mares. Is it based on generations or on % of blood? I don't recall.

I am clearly seeing this discussion late, but since it has been re-started, Canadian Kid is definitely palomino and he is registered chestnut with the JC.

Angrovestud,

Upps, I didn't noticed your posting.
As per the question you are asking me, my answer would be either avenue!

By the way, if Madame Couturie tried it by crossing Mont Blanc (TB)
with a blue-eyed grey Pony mare named "Fanny" (whose produce eventually was crossed with a Thoroughbred mate and so on) why not introduce that way the splendid and unique Akhal-Teke hair via a
half-bred TB and so on?

Do you know of any such case produced, or at least an intent?

Jorge Weatherbys in the UK have now closed the NTR stud book to outside new stallions registrations, so the only way you could breed a spotted horse in to the GSB is through the dam line

Thank you for the valuable information. I thought that since the female families are all tidily numbered that they were more strict in keeping those lineages uninterrupted, you know, from a "tail-female" lineage perspective.

Can you share a little more on the rules they are applying today?

Apropos this valuable response from "color", let me
make use of her definitions to add the Spanish translation
of these terms at the end of each definition by using these parenthesis "[ ]".

I am doing this because as you will see below,
coat colors in Spanish have different words depending on the
country you are dealing. For example, in Spain, the terms are not necessarily the same as those being used in South America, Central America and the Caribbean. Each of these regions are quite different with their unique words. This is quite different from what happens in other languages and countries. Hope this may be a good reference for some of you when dealing with coat colors in Spanish. Good luck!

The International Convention was held and they discussed the color of Smoky Cream. They did not want to approve it so the committee has now 4 weeks to finalize a decision. That is the update on this.
