Well I guess there has to be good days to offset the badones
Last year a trainer friend of mine parked mares with me, as again he did this year along with a buck wild difficult yearling. I insisted on gelding the yearling which went a long way (he kept trying to kill the help), and twice talked the owner out of selling him because he IS a really gorgeous horse... sent him to the cowboys to get broke at 2, and he is now a changed horse and totally roadbroke and jog and gallop.. owner said sell so I put him up for sale went and took pictures; sent them also to the owner in case and he said what are you nuts?? We should keep him. So I might just have a partner deal on my first racehorse..... the smiles we get from God for hard work....still have his Mom just sold his younger half bro for $4K (a really tough kick your butt deal involving stud contracts with a big Lex farm for mares the guy didn't even own!!!...)...
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....
Will do... yup he's 2 and 16h and about 1100 lbs... don't know how "little" that is... now to figure out a name... If I get around to working on websites I'll post the pics I took and put them here ... everyone who has seen them has been floored... and he's got a lot of go in him...
Naturally grown 2yo with no drugs, steroids, etc. etc. etc. I know every pimple on him.
By Military out of Luv That Security. Nickname is Billy because he was so BUTTHEADED when we got him, shortened from billygoat... How about Darlin' Billy?

I had heard that the Military ones could be tough. His dam is one of the sweetest mares in existence so it didn't come from her. What is so impressive is his level of physical maturity for his size, knees are closed, he is awesome looking, an effortless mover. Will probably end up working him myself at the little training center down the road for a while... I sure like him now, though, will love him if he makes it to the winner's circle..
Funny thing, last December the owner told me to "give him away if you can"... I could have "given" him to myself... naw, too dishonest.

Well I guess
Looks like a nice horse in the making, but I should think he needs a little more time so to see from the picture.
If he was mine, I would give him daily roadwork for a couple of months,
at a small slope, threnghten up his musculation.
Best of luck with him, and give him plenty of time for growing and maturing. Let us ( me ) know how the things are unfolding.
One day I,am sure he,ll be in the winner,s enclosure but can,t guarantee you this year, however ????

That's a nice looking young one.
It's interesting also how the pedigree is similar to that of an Aussie GIW Sprinter named Keeper, who won the 2001 Goodwood Cup (GI-1200m).
Both have Danzig over His Majesty in the sire and Pleasant Colony crossed with Secretariat and Nashua in the dam. Keeper is 3x3 to His Majesty and Billy Club is 4x4. The female line source [P. Colony] is the same in both and while the male side one [Razyana, Battle Creek Girl] is different, both of these very nice GI or Multiple G2 Producing His Majesty daughters come in the context of Danzig.

Hi Madelyn,
Keeper won his GI at 6f and his G3 at 7f. Also, he was one of the top 3YO Aussie Sprinter of 2000 and I'd take his success as a sign that inbreeding to His Majesty in the context of Danzig may increase the speed in the offspring to a point where it's surprising to someone looking at the pedigree.
Also, Keeper's full brother Downing Street ran his best race (a placing in a GI) in the 1400m VRC Sires Produce Stakes.
The one horse with the same 2nd dam as Keeper and Downing Street I can think of is Castledale, a winner of a GI at 9f fairly early in his 3YO year and a 8f G3 on the turf; so it's not like a speed demon female line somehow short-circuited the His Majesty inbreeding.
Sometimes very close inbreeding can have this effect; the ultimate example of this of course being the "Black Whirlwind" Domino, who was intensly inbred 3x4x4 to the great 4 Mile Heat Horse Lexington (this has aways stuck with me...).
Billy Club is 4x4 to His Majesty instead of 3x3 to His Majesty; but there's enough similarity in the context of the inbreeding that I'd consider it more likely than I would otherwise that the horse will have success sprinting due to the race record of Keeper. If the horse trains like a big time router you shouldn't push him into being a sprinter or anything of course; just be more on the look out for signs that the horse could have success at shorter distances.
Billy Club's sire Military's race record does indicate more stamina than the race record of Keeper's sire Danehill (though Danehill has sired all kinds), and also we're basically going on a sample size of one in our study of GIW His Majesty inbreds.
So this horse might prefer it longer than Keeper (it should also be noted that he has a lot of turf influences), but I tend to think that it's not a coincidence that the one big winner with HM Inbreeding was a sprinter.
Sometimes something is too out there not to mean something (and one possibilty is that the His Majesty inbreds who don't get the latent speed out of HM fail on account of being plodders)...
It's interesting to me that all the best with Graustark inbreeding have a great deal of stamina; and the one good one with inbreeding to his full brother His Majesty was a sprinter. It just goes to demonstrate the importance of particularism in pedigree analysis (AKA: "When you can narrow it down, narrow it down.").
For instance, if you first look at His Majesty inbreeding in general you'll find it unimpressive; but it's very important that you then try narrowing it down to Danehill over Pleasant Colony, where you'll find that going through those two sources has worked in a GIW (Keeper) from a quite small sample.
Whether the key to Danehill's success with inbreeding to His Majasty through Pleasant Colony is due more to the individual genes he inherited by chance from his parents, his high quality as a racehorse and sire, or his sire Danzig being a strong nick with His Majesty is an interesting question. And I suppose Billy Club could be an important part of answering that.

Billy Club
Madelyn, if he could trying on the turf, in the fall at 6 or 7 furlongs. I should think, he would be a good 3 year old. As he is rather large for his age, he needs long straights, not putting to much press on his bones and joints.
He seems interestingly to me.
All the best, luck and knowledge
