Don't know, but the dam had another full brother, a gelding in 2009 named unbridled's way, I think it was. Did not do much, so far. He is a bay.

Why are they rebreeding her back to him?

While I feel US is a beautiful horse, with what I've read about his notability for throwing fragile horses, and other places as well, you could not give me a season for him or one of his sons. Too many others out there. I think he needs to be in the show ring or something. I really liked 8 Belles and was devastated when that happened.

Actually if you look at his record his foals are no more fragile than the average. It is just some of his that broke down were high profile. And he does throw those very big horses who could probably benefit from a longer prep time than most people want to give.

Perhaps...I've read on this forum many people have stated the fragility of his offspring.

And you are right, people don't give the horses enough time to develop. How many that were in the news around Derby time do we hear about now? It used to be, when I was much younger, those horses would stay around for the races later in the 3 year old year, and also go on to the 4 year old year. Now they win a Grade 1 race of any kind, and they are swept away to breed constantly. As if we don't have enough stallions as it is.

The fact that something is a popular opinion does not make it true.

As for whisking horses away to stud at a young age, that has more to do with the economics of racing than the fragility of the horses. The vast majority of owners are losing huge sums of money every year keeping their horses on the track. When they have a chance to get a return on their "investment" they can hardly be blamed for taking it.

then I will say one thing. I just turned on TVG and sure enough, a race was nearing the end when two beautiful horses went down, and all the reports they gave were that the jockeys were ok, which was of course great news, but when I saw the whole horse flying up in the air and seeing its legs flinging all over the place, I shut the channel off and probably won't watch it again until Zenny's sister runs. The track was nothing but mud yet they are out there running their hearts out for someone whipping the shit out of them on their back. I've had a whole change of heart today. I also read some great articles on the DRF which I'll post when I get the sickness out of me from seeing that.
Too MANY breeders, too many low horses and we know what happens to them. In fact, there was a weanling up on the right corner of the forum, for a couple hundred dollars. Somebody rescued her from the canners aka killers because she had half her eyelid ripped off. They got her back to health and are looking for a loving home for the baby. God Bless them!

Let the attacks begin. I don't care. Nobody can say that nothing should be changed about this "business" where we are dealing with animals that have had names. Then getting thrown away like yesterday's trash.

Update on the grey colt, ALL HANDS, who is Ky. Derby second-place finisher, EIGHT BELLES' full brother:
He just won today!

ALL HANDS (gr/ro c 2012) http://www.pedigreequery.com/all+hands4

Watch video of the race at Aqueduct: Race 6 (MSW) on March 15. 2015

(P.S. In just his second start, All Hands just won this past March 15, 2015 and clicked fractionals of 23.70; 48.05; 1:14.34; 1:41.17 (1-Mile) and 1:45.55 (1-mile and 70 yards). Theoretically, such a time would have represented clicking 8-1/2 furlongs in circa 1:47.55. Although it is a modest time, it’s a great improvement from his debut [12th. among 13 competitors].)
