It's Naming Time Again...

Postby madelyn » Tue Jan 22, 2013 1:18 pm

and foals of 2011 must have a name at least attempted by Jan 31 to avoid paying a late naming fee.

I am just terrible at names (just unimaginative, I guess) and always come here for help. Here they are:

2011 colt by Rocking Trick out of Militant Maid. Militant Maid finally po'ed me to the point that I have moved her down the line. This colt is her third live foal in EIGHT YEARS. I like the name "All Tricked Out" which is available, but that might be a knee jerk reaction and just unsuitable. He is a bit on the small side, nearly jet black with a white star, and a really clever monkey. He was halter broke in five minutes. Recently, he was saddle broke in one day.

2011 colt by Rocking Trick out of Glenfiddich Fire. This is a big burly colt, a really cool dark bay with a white trickle stripe and snip. His barn name as a baby was $hitfire because he was just always so full of himself. He has been a handful but is settling into training and schooling well. I am at sea on this one. He had an ill-fated full brother who was one of several yearlings I lost due to a mysterious mold in round bale hay a few years ago. That colt was called "Scotch Rocks" - so I want to stay away from anything like that.

All suggestions are very welcome. Thanks.

Tactical Trick for the Militant Maid colt?

Trick Of The Light for the Glenfiddich Fire?

Or Trick Driver for either one of them?

Edited to add:

I know you said you didn't want to go in the same direction as Scotch Rocks' name, but I think FieldSobrietyTest is available.

It's naming time again.

Hi,

For the Rocking Trick x Military Maid "Slings and Arrows" as he is a bit on the small side he will have to overcome adversity, hence "of outrageous fortune".

For the Rocking Trick x Glenfiddich Fire colt , "Single Malt, Fire Trick or Fire Rock".

Anyway hope that they run fast and come home safe.

Cheers

They have got to be beautiful if Rocky is their dad.

Would love to see the little black one.

And the other one too, sometimes if you see them that way, a name will pop up.
Congratulations.

For all the Notre Dame fans, how about Dead Fake Girlfriend.
Seriously though, saw the movie Lincoln, and a phrase in the movie US Grant uses caught my attention. Terms of Surrender.

Babelaas.

Afrikaans for "hangover." A really ugly, wicked bad hangover.

You could call the clever little monkey "Sock Monkey". I can just see him turning for home in the Kentucky Derby, and the announcer stating that "Sock Monkey" is in the lead. :)

There was a song by an Irish band called Aslan (a poor mans U2) the song was called "Six days to Zero" from the album "Waiting for this madness to end"

Six days to Zero
