For Jorge

Postby erhrdt3 » Fri Mar 01, 2013 6:53 pm

Hi Jorge, I kept mentioning a horse I saw a photo of and after much searching I THINK I found the photo, it was/is a beautiful dappled grey named Turralure. He was racing on the grass against Data Link and it showed just the front end of him, but just his chest was so grey dappled he was beautiful. Too bad they do not keep that dapple cause this one is a looker! thanks Jorge.

You are quite welcome. Thank you so much for the fine courtesy.
Hmmm, would like to see him being reserved for stud duties.
Here some other links:

Dear Jorge, Many thanks for posting all those incredible photos of Turralure! Wow, he IS incredible looking, and seems to be quite the boy! I would take a mare to him because he seems he would make a good stallion. And what a coat he has, spots all over! He's won quite alot and it would be nice if he retired to KY. He seems to be a personable horse as some of the photos show him being hugged up with his "people" as well. A good attitude is always something I would want, not some horse that would take your face off.

Oh only if those greys, and esp. this guy, stayed that color as they aged!

Thank you again, I'm glad I was able to find him as it was driving me nuts trying to remember who he was. :D

edit: Jorge, I know you like to look for Native Dancer in the horses peds. I looked, and might have missed it, but in Turallure's ped. I did not see him? Your thoughts?

Dear Erhrdt3

Don’t forget that TURALLURE is carrying the following five (5) doses from NATIVE DANCER , one of which (the one coming from Allure) at least theoretically brings up his grey color to the present, albeit coalesced with another gray strain. Take a look:

01. Danzig // Northern Dancer // Natalma // Native Dancer
02. Woodman // Mr Prospector // Raise A Native // Native Dancer
03. Viceregal // Northern Dancer // Natalma // Native Dancer
04. Personal Allure // Wekiva Springs // Jetting Angel // Hello Angel // Missionary Stew // Native Dancer
05. Kris//Sharpen Up // Atan // Native Dancer

Wow, Jorge, you are incredible!! I did go back more than the 5 gens. and yes indeed, there is the Raise A Native that I saw.

Native Dancer seems to be in every horses pedigree somewhere. In your opinion Jorge, was it because at that time in history he was so good and a great stallion? In my unprofessional (get that in for Pax) browsing, I noticed there does not seem to be another like Native Dancer.

Even my all time fav, Ruffian was a granddaughter of the beautiful grey boy. :)

And don't forget that every where you find Native Dancer, or Bold Ruler there is a dose of Discovery. The original Iron Horse himself.

Actually there are 5 mighty branches
all coming from Discovery.
Curiously enough they all
represent the five principal
coat colors of the Thoroughbred
bred and they were all produced
during the 1950s. These were:

Traffic Judge (Chestnut H 1952) http://www.pedigreequery.com/traffic+judge [coming from ALIBHAI]

Intentionally (Black H 1956) http://www.pedigreequery.com/intentionally [coming from INTENT]

Native Dancer (Gray H 1950) http://www.pedigreequery.com/native+dancer [coming from POLYNESIAN]

Bold Ruler (Brown H 1954) http://www.pedigreequery.com/bold+ruler [coming from NASRULLAH]

Hasty Road (Bay H 1951) http://www.pedigreequery.com/hasty+road [coming from ROMAN]
