Super Saver

Postby Bobster » Sun Aug 24, 2014 7:03 pm

I have been a long time horse racing fan and pedigree enthusiast and recently began writing a pedigree blog on various horses and topics. I recently wrote this article on Super Saver when he first began having success as a sire. I hope you read it and enjoy it...I truly enjoyed writing it and it was a learning experience as is each piece I do. I encourage you to leave me feedback as to what you liked or didn't like about my piece. Thank you for welcoming me in to this forum.

He just got his first Grade 1 winner in the Hopeful. Very promising start to his stud career. :)

I would definitely agree. And his other baby ran a good second in the Hopeful as well. Win Star lined him up with some very classy mares and this type of production is not a shock to me. Super Saver has a great female family as well. I think Competitive Edge is special.

Slow final furlong Competitive Edge looks an early type 2 yr old looks to have been produced to do an early job, doubt we will see him next May.

I have a hard time thinking this horse will make any noise next spring. The last time a Hopeful winner did much in the Classics was 10 years ago when Afleet Alex won. And, he didn't race after the Belmont (cracked shin???). This race is for precocious sprinters now.

He was bred to run in The Kentucky Derby and I don't think an outfit like Win Star would get it wrong nor the owners who paid $750,000 for him. Slow final furlong because they zoomed around the race track and he had to go 3 wide.

10/1 says he wont be in the Derby.

1/2 says he will get an injury now coolmore part own him and be retired as a 2yr old.

You could say Cairo Prince, Honor Code, Top Billing, and Constitution were all bred to run in the Kentucky Derby too.
