A question about sons of Unbridled's Song

Postby Cree » Sat Sep 13, 2014 9:45 am

With the retirement of Cross Traffic yesterday to Spendthrift, I just did a quick browse of Unbridled's Song's sons at stud. My question is: If you were to breed to one of his sons, who would you breed to?

Cross Traffic will join Graydar, First Defense, Dunkirk, and Zensational, as his highest priced sons at stud. Even the Score comes in at $10,000.

First Defence sired a G1 winner (Close Hatches 3 X G1 and millionaire) and getting runners on all surfaces.

Cross Traffic himself. Phenomenal horse. I have been awaiting his retirement. I'm sure there will be those that bring up the soundness issue....don't care....this horse is a star.

Not a fan of First Defense....apparently neither is the American Thoroughbred review. At stud, seems to be limited to the one filly. Take her out of the stats and his results are dismal.

Until a better overall horse (racing & breeding) appears,
I think that Dunkirk has achieved the best performance.

DUNKIRK (gr/ro h 2006) http://www.pedigreequery.com/dunkirk9

Dunkirk also has proven to possess the best precocity/stamina potential
already siring horses like
DUNKIN BEND (gr/ro h 2011)
http://www.pedigreequery.com/dunkin+bend
and HAVANA (gr/ro h 2011)
http://www.pedigreequery.com/havana20

All of us would like to see a better candidate and who
knows if Cross Traffic (beautiful pedigree)is the best to come, or even one of his
last foals out of Tapit mares, but right now, its all Dunkirk.

I'm holding out for Will Take Charge.

I'm just going to throw this out there, since there is always a question surrounding Unbridled's Song and soundness. I personally consider WTC a sound horse because he raced 21 times from August of his 2-year-old season to August of his 4-year-old year. He ran in all of the TC races. He ran basically every month from Oct/12 to Nov/13 (not in April, but twice in May, and not in October, but twice in November). Other than the one clunker he threw in during the G2 Alysheba this year, he finished in the top 3. Lukas ran him hard, and trained him hard.

Let the waiting begin...
