Very sad. We will never know what she could've done.

Nutmeg - 'what happened' is stated in the first sentence of the Bloodhorse article at first provided link: 'paddock accident'.

It is always So Very Sad for the connections. My non-horsy husband used to freak out at me when we lost a foal, in the invincible belief that this Never Happened To Other People and I must be just incompetent. Now when he hears something like that he says "It can happen to anyone."

The pasture buddy "Princess Z" collided with didn't make it either. So sad.

BloodHorse produced two recent special features, one was a video, and the other was a "longform" article. The video notes the passing of the filly foal. It was my understanding that at the time the video was being developed, it was anticipated that it, or parts of it, would be shown during the 2014 Breeders Cup. Because of the sad note of the passing of Z Princess, those plans were shelved for a wider broadcast of the video.
