With a return to Aqueduct's main track, I'm glad to see Daredevil taking a shot to accumulate some derby points. He was very impressive as a 2YO and came back pretty good in his 3YO debut in a swiftly run 7 furlong race at GP. Castellano remains on board and he could stretch out well today. Florida shipper Frosted also finds weaker in here, but can either handle NY's top winter track 3YO, El Kabeir. Will post PP's when they are available. TJ

Re: The GR I Wood Memorial
Frosted looked like he owned Upstart and Itsaknockout in the Fountain of Youth Stakes, then stopped abruptly. He returns to NY off a layoff, very swift works at Palm Meadows, a Llewelyn procedure (indicating he stopped because he flipped his palate) and a switch to Rosario in his last ditch effort to make it into the Derby starting gate. Looks like Daredevil's main competition. El Kabeir, a solid NY winter horse, may have been beating weaker. TJ

Frosted, after a total makeover, including being taken back off the pace today, won quite easily when asked. Derby bound!
Tencedur a game 2nd
El Kabeir 3rd
Daredevil a poor 4th

Re: The GR I Wood Memorial
That surgery helped Frosted, I suppose. He has been underachieving, but that might have been the easiest of the preps today.
Now we can all agree Daredevil is better at 7-8 furlongs.
I wish El Kabeir had sensible owners, he wants no part of the Derby distance.

Hi Cree,
Agree on all counts. McLaughlin is red hot these days and they did a great job with this horse. Watch him at Keeneland and Aqueduct. TJ

Better late than never, here's the replay of The Wood Memorial. Frosted was awarded a 103 beyer, 2nd best number of the 3 preps. TJ
