GR II Charlestown Classic

Postby TJ » Wed Apr 15, 2015 9:50 pm

Shared Belief meets some mediocre east coast horses, nice spot for his first try outside of California. Past performances below. TJ

Shared Belief....found a soft spot for his 1st race away from home.
Moreno....looks to be the one to catch and beat again.
General A Rod....Seems like he improved in Pletcher's hands, could give them a scare.
Street Babe....former Pletcher assistant lures Rosario?

OMG...SHARED BELIEF EASED!! He broke poorly, then steadily fell back? They set a new track record, breaking the old one by a full second. TJ

He looked real sluggish out of the gate and then never got into stride, might be something wrong other than racing outside of California. Sure hope he is okay, we will have to wait and see.

That was a shock and a disappointment. It sounds like he was uncomfortable (per Smith) and sliding behind, so he was pulled up as a precaution. Hope he's ok, he's such an incredible little horse.

They're saying it's a stifle injury, soft tissue only, but they'll know more tomorrow.

That just felt like a really bad day for racing's stakes calibre horses - Shared Belief getting pulled up (stifle), Diversy Harbor is badly injured (sesamoids), Down Town Allen has been injured (suspensory), and One Lucky Dane (condylar fracture).

Have to say, watching the reply (thanks TJ!) Imperative was impressive to me, observing how he had to be pulled up hard after he almost ran up on the heels of race leaders going into the second turn....an amazing recovery athletically and a demonstration of his will to win in finding a secondary route/hole thru which he could come second.

Hi jellac,
Definitely a good run against the grain of that speed favoring race track. He seems to like CT, I'd like to see him step up his game at SA. He was a heck of a claim. TJ
