....and I just noticed an email from this afternoon letting me know the winner...but (here's the catch: I NEVER did receive the email the contest promised as soon as the race field was set so I could make any picks :( ). Should have been paying closer attention to the HANDICAPPING thread here at Pedigree Query instead of relying on the promo materials. Can't even complain as the email notice is one of those 'no reply' emails.

So very late out of the gate again (FUMING)....I am no doubt dead last on the leaderboard as I haven't even entered selections for a single race yet!!!

You did well TJ!!

Hi Jellac,
Yes, I never received a "reminder" e-mail either. It's too bad you missed it....next up is The Suburban Handicap on July 4th at Belmont Park (Tonalist should be favored to win that one). Yesterday was my first try...I was late to enter the contest, so the chances of catching up to the top people are slim to none. I think I'm around 7,000:>) I noticed one contestant picked the exact order of finish in the Belmont Stakes. They have some serious handicappers in this game.....but it will be fun and a good handicapping lesson when it's over:>) TJ

OK, TJ, your words have encouraged me not to dwell on my 'pout' but instead focus on getting The Suburban Handicap on my radar - I should be able to remember the date of this race, no reminders needed, and will note to check in for your kindly postings of entries here on Pedigree Query.... :)

See! How quickly you have me encouraged to try my luck again...looking forward to seeing how I can do given the chance. Uhm....Tonalist????

Hi TJ and Jellac.

FYI I believe the next race is this weekend and it's the Belmont Oaks. So get those handicapping hats on right away!!!

Well done TJ. I didn't get anything right and so I dropped 1000 places :( .

Thanks for the heads up as to this weekend's race! Got to get organized and disciplined about this context if I'm going to have any success startingl at this late stage

Hi Geo,
Sorry, I thought it was the Suburban....I copied and pasted the original contest races (my first post) and the Suburban was listed for the July 4th contest race at Belmont Park. I see it is now the Belmont Oaks as you said. Thanks for opening my eyes, that knocks out Tonalist and an easy 100 points:>) TJ

TJ -

Appears that you and I will be cheering (in my case yelling) against one another for winner/second.....Now that I've finally got my picks entered I agree - this challenge is harder than you think it's going to be.

So FWIW here are my picks :

6 (because I am a huge Brice Blanc fan - since forever :D - and saw him ride this filly in her last race/prior win, even if she IS noted as being a poor shipper :( ) - 2 - 7 - 3 -11 -8 - 10 -5 - 1 - 12

* [I may decide to edit some of these picks between now and lock down, but only the order for 3rd thru 10th position and now that I've published my initial handicapping selections if I do that it will likely be a prime example of over thinking how this race may play out!]

Good luck everyone!

Here's the finish,
Lady Eli looks like she's the best 3YO of either sex on the grass. She flew through the lane. TJ
Lady Eli, Itsonlyactingdad, a deadheat for 3rd between Outstanding and Sentiero Italia. Will post the entire top ten when the charts come out. Wonder how they will score the DH in the game? TJ

My error....the dead heat was for 4th place. Here's the finish:
Lady Eli, Itsonlyactingdad, Outstanding and a deadheat between Sentiero Italia and Strict Compliance for 4th place.
