To quote Ross Perot, that giant sucking sound that you hear is all of the HOTY votes moving over to Beholder.

It's always good to watch how 3yo's run against their elders at this time of year. If she is behaviorally on her game one month from now, she will crush the 3yos and spawn what will become an annoying debate throughout the winter season.

I still think AP will withdraw and retire...but if he doesn't and he gets crushed... you're looking at a 60k stud fee. Thinking about it...if he does retire now, you're looking at a 80k fee...not that much of a difference....I'm talking about contract numbers not advertised numbers.

Seems like a risky move to race AP in the Classic at 10 furlongs. If the big mare pulls it off and wins the Classic, she is no doubt in my mind HOY. Especially if she beats American Pharoah. You hate to see him end his career on losses. I really don't feel confident in his ability to take on the older males over 10 furlongs.

Others have voiced their concerns about AP at 10f, Cree. He did have the second fastest Belmont OF THE TRIPLE CROWN WINNERS and 5th or 6th fastest overall, so what is the concern about 10f? Just because he lost at 10f once? Just curious. If he doesn't run in the Classic because of the presence of Beholder and other older males, it just seems cowardly and inappropriate for a Triple Crown Winner. For me, I'd rather see him lose in the Classic rather than dodge other horses. He's still a Triple Crown Winner and can't imagine that he would lose HOY....it seems like it should be awarded on the basis of the whole year and not just one or even 2 races. Just my 2 cents.
