Super Saturday's 6 Stakes Races

Postby TJ » Wed Sep 30, 2015 1:31 pm

Here are the six Stakes (races, 5-10) entries for Belmont Park's "Super Saturday" card. I'm especially interested in seeing Shugs two run, Honor Code and Sail Ahoy. Shug has been extremely aggressive with this 2YO Sail Ahoy, wheeling him back quickly by his standards then right into a stakes after breaking his maiden? He wouldn't do that unless he has something very special in his hands. As promised Jellac, I will "edit in" the past performances as soon as they are released. For some reason they hold back releasing them on big days...guess they want you to buy them:>) I hope your handicapping is on the money and you pay for your trip:>) PS...due to "Joaquin" looks like the track will be off and if they get the expected rain, there should be no turf racing. Hopefully it will turn out to sea. TJ

Whatsdachances is my "best bet" this card. Hope the races stay on turf.

It ought to be illegal for Chad Brown to have so many good horses!

Sad that the grade 1 JCGC only drew six runners, IMO.

I agree about the JCGC. I kind of wish a 3-year-old made it, but they all are training up to the Classic and/or retired.

The weather sure has put a "dampener" on this racing weekend. The last two days there's been no turf racing at Belmont Park, the rain is coming down strong and steady currently in NY and the main track is sloppy and sealed. The same goes for the opening day card today at Keeneland, the main track is listed as sloppy and sealed and the turf is soft. So far there will be racing on the turf at Keeneland. Makes for more guesswork than usual trying to handicap:>) TJ

Honor Code a victim of the non-pace? I think he might be better in the Dirt Mile, if he can get a pace to run into. Keeneland's stretch isn't as long as Belmont's. That may be a concern.
Appealing Tale has had a very good year, but a bit disappointing of a race.

Hi Cree,
I agree, Honor Code was up against it from the start. You just figure he's a champ, he should beat these ordinary horses...but that's horse racing. I think he ran very well considering the speed favoring track. What turned me off was he refused to go in the gate. That is never a good sign and I made a pick 3 using him alone. I cancelled it as soon as I saw that. TJ

Here in the 7th race the Euro shipper, Nemoralia took a big early bet...might have to take a closer look with Rosario in the irons?? TJ

Here's the finish in the 7th:
Nickname
Nemoralia
She's All Ready
Width

That wager helped me out...threw out Where's The D and put the Euro in her place under Nickname and She's All Ready and grabbed the triple:>) TJ

Sail Ahoy...don't give up on him yet...he didn't like the track and still managed a decent run for 4th. Watch him when he returns over a fast track.
