Beholder and American Pharaoh recorded a 5 furlong work, both at :59 2/5. This is going to be some race... I can hardly wait for Saturday!

Here's Beholder's final BC work, she looks great going 5/8ths at Keeneland in 59.40 (1/8). Also below is American Pharoah's final lifetime workout, a 1/2 mile published workout of 46.40 (2/33), while galloping out 5/8ths in 59.40 at Santa Anita....he looks mighty good too:>) Last major concern comes this evening when they draw post positions for the Classic....all the other post positions have all ready been drawn and assigned for the BC races. AP has the number 4 spot, Beholder has number 10... any thoughts? How is Beholder from the outside, can she break well enough to not get shuffled into the pack? AP started 5th in the Belmont, so I have to believe his camp is pretty happy with this post position?

Hi Skeenan,
The post shouldn't pose a problem for either of the choices due to a lack of front runners in the field....other then, of course AP and Beholder. If any other number decides to go...they will become a target for the top two which could be a blessing in disguise. Smooth Roller has the ability to take the lead if desired....but he has been iffy since he missed a scheduled workout?
I will post all the BC races with past performances in another thread shortly and you can see for yourself how it shapes up. I think we might see some scratches also....currently we lost Untapable (Distaff) to a fever and Tin Type Gal from the Juvy Filly's Turf. TJ

Real shame about Untapable, was really looking forward to watching her run, too. Crossing my fingers that everyone else stays healthy and happy for Saturday!

After the smoke cleared Saturday and AP walked his beat solidifying his role in racing history, AP and his connections made one final good will parting gesture for a young man with cerebral palsy. The following day (Monday) he arrived safe and sound at Ashford Stud. TJ
