It does clear up the picture a bit.

I still can't fathom any drug that could turn a 5k claimer into a stakes winner.

Shergar, I can't see turning a $5k claimer into a stakes winner, but I can see a better training regime, gate training, and riding the horse the way it needed to be ridden turning it from a $5k claimer into a $40k claimer/low-level allowance horse. And then I can see juice taking it from an allowance horse into a listed stakes winner.
