Asmussen decided to keep Gun Runner out of the Belmont Stakes and point him to the Haskell on July 31st. Looks like he coudn't have found a better spot for the talented Gun Runner's return, following his 3rd place finish in the Kentucky Derby. Below are the entries and past performances. TJ

Very impressive win for Gun Runner in setting a new Matt Winn Stakes record while only 0.08 seconds away from the track record owned by Successful Dan. This race will set him up perfectly for the 1 1/8th mile Haskell Invitational July 31st. Watch the replay below. TJ

I like how he kicked on entering the stretch, very professional. He's really developed into a nice colt.
Tough loss for Eagle in the Stephen Foster, I thought he was going to get to Bradester.

Hi Cree,
Gun Runner looked so much better after his brief freshening...we're gonna see some good racing in the 3YO ranks this season. Every one of the 3YO Graded Stakes will be a battle...such a solid group of runners!
Eagle is one tough son of a gun for sure, but so is Bradester when he's right. Effinex wasn't there this time...but I hope Jimmy Jerkens turns it around later with Unified at Monmouth. TJ
