Morning everyone;
She debuted on July 1 (Belmont) and came in 5th; mid pack. Bit of a bad start, gained slowly at finish.
Probably wants longer, which is probably a little hard to find for 2YO's

Hello all,
Sad to say that I no longer own a piece of this filly. I am getting my purchase price back as well as purse money. Trainer and I had a disagreement and a parting of the ways.
I'll be saving pennies for a future venture.
Thanks for encouragement, and for helping me learn.

That's a shame but best of luck in the future venture. What was the disagreement about?

You can PM me if you really want to know. I don't want to air my side of the story publicly.

Guess I got out in time. She was entered in the Lynbrook and of course was dead last.
I don't understand why. Best of 14 work prior? Stupidity in my eyes. Why kill her confidence? Why such a jump in class off a mid-pack effort in a MSW ?

Four horse field, opportunity to get some black type on the page. Not a bad choice and one that if it were me, I would have agreed with. Earned more than she would have in other likely more crowded spots where she'd have a chance at a cleaner trip too. It looks like what should have been an easy "blowout" a few days before the race wound up as something more than they probably wanted.
I have no knowledge or experience in how many losing efforts it takes for a young horse who really understands what their job is to feel depressed about it, but if it's anything like a young kid who falls off a horse, they don't usually get discouraged and get right back on and try again.

Well, yes Tap, you're right---I had similar thoughts. And I would have made a quick $100. But in my limited experience of horses whose careers I've followed and noted, a quick jump to stakes company usually leads to a poor performance, which leads to subsequent poor performances. She was beaten badly right out of the gate.

I just can't see a young two year old becoming discouraged after two starts regardless. There are plenty of horses that take a long time to come around and for them your choices are to keep dropping them in class or to wait it out in MSW races. There are way too many factors to consider when a horse goes into the gate for the comparisons to all be identical. If you had a two year old who wanted/needed a long distance race you would still need to race them because they need the experience and the foundation. On the other hand, if you had one that you thought was going to be just "okay" but you couldn't find any claiming races you'd still want to enter them because you're trying to make money not because it's a hobby. Some horses are mentally immature and you could run them a dozen times and then one day they'd become mature and things change.
Look at it this way, if you were still involved and if that filly had finished second her value is instantly higher and as such an opportunity could have arisen to sell her which would have allowed you and the partners to make some money. It's very hard to find a good racehorse these days and there are plenty of people waiting on the sidelines with deep pockets prepared to pay for anything that comes along.

Yes . . . thanks for your insights. All makes sense.
We'll see where they put her next.

Sorry to hear you are not part of the horse any longer.
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....
Re: Ownership venture # 2: Gala Regatta '15
She was scratched out of that race.
Thanks Madelyn. It does distress and frustrate me. But I really had no choice.
