Seven time Grade 1 winner. Graded stakes winner at 2, 3, 4 and 5. By Galileo, from a female family full of graded stakes winners. He will go to stud in Ireland for an advertised stud fee of €17,500 ($20,500).

Meanwhile, in the US breeders are asked to pay stud fees of $20,000 or more for far less accomplished stallions like Keen Ice, Battle of Midway, Mastery, Violence, Tonalist, Orb and Lord Nelson.

It's frustrating to be stuck choosing from overpriced US stallions.

That's because the farms know you have the best chance of making money with a first year until the horse is proven one way or the other and price accordingly. They seem to require a similar price point too and it has to end in 000 and be in increments of 5,000 :lol: which makes for an interesting payment when you throw in the 6% tax on sperm.

I expect to see Highland Reel standing to National Hunt mares within the next few years. Seems the way majority of the Coolmore stallions who liked a distance of ground go...
