The 144th Running of The Kentucky Oaks

Postby TJ » Mon Apr 30, 2018 1:24 pm

Very nice group of 3YO fillies for Friday's Oaks. Of particular interest is Rayya who ships in from Meydan after finishing 2nd to Mendelssohn in the UAE Derby. Rayya, who was bred in Kentucky, has been transferred to Baffert for her American racing debut. TJ

I like My Miss Lilly, as she is a winner over the distance already. Monomoy Girl has been superb so far.

As the ladies take center stage Friday at CD, Friday's under-card sports some quality runners as well, including Good Samaritan, Always Dreaming, Hoppertunity, Abel Tasman and Salty to name a few. Click below to find all the Friday entries with first post at 10:30 AM. By the way, I'm really interested in seeing how Rayya does...even considering how far she was beaten by Mendelssohn, her final time compares favorably to all other previous winners of the UAE Derby. It could help figure out where Mendelssohn fits in the Derby? Speaking of Mendelssohn, he had to be rerouted to Indianapolis yesterday because his groom Marcus Hersh, did not have or forgot his paperwork? The stopover is necessary so Marcus can go through customs and sort this out. They will van to Kentucky after this and did arrive at CD Monday night at around 10:30 PM. TJ

Thanks for the tell, TJ.
As far as the Oaks selections go, the favorites are obvious, but I am intrigued with Kelly, Irad's mount ...

Thanks Cree.....the Will Call, Kid Perfect exacta made my day. I'll post the stakes with PP's in a separate section for tomorrow. We got lucky today with the weather...but it looks like it will be pouring in Lexington tomorrow....hope it doesn't cancel turf racing? TJ
