Bred to two Studs?

Postby mehile » Wed Jan 02, 2019 12:00 pm

I was looking at this mare's sales page and was caught off guard when it said she was bred to California Chrome and Not this time. Why does it show both? I'm assuming the mating to Chrome didn't work so they sent her to Not this Time but if that's the case then why still show Chrome as a "bred to"?

Yes all covers are supposed to be reported whether the mare is in foal or not. They switched to a different stallion on the same farm (I have done that too) as sometimes the combination just doesn't work. My mare got right in foal when I switched after two covers that were not only good but she had ovulated exactly when predicted.

I didn't realize they still had to say it even after it didn't take. Thanks for the info. :)
