Congrats Zia! It must be so rewarding to take a chance and be rewarded with a horse with so much try. :)

Thanks, mehile! It's been an absolute dream. Things don't often work out so well in this business!

My boy Fenix finally had his first timed work. He wasn't being pushed as it's his first time breezing a 3/8ths but at least it's a step forward. :D

Super Senor (Super Saver x a SW daughter of El Gran Senor), a horse we owned in partnership, has been retired from racing at 5YO.

Sadly, he didn't returned to form after coming up sore at Albuquerque in early summer, in spite of an extended lay-up and sending him to Turf Paradise to use the equine pool. Together with our partner and trainer, we made the very tough joint decision not to race him further to avoid the chance of a catastrophic or debilitating injury. He'll be placed in a good home. This guy is a gentleman and was a real competitor with three wins, hitting the board 10 times in 17 starts.

He ran two 2nds and a 5th since we claimed him in February of this year. We had high hopes for him, but we have to put the safety of the horse first.

I'm sure that's very disappointing but I'm glad you're doing right by him. Best of luck to him in his new home and you all in your future ventures.

Fenix got his gate card last week. Weather is still screwing with his breezing schedule though so it'll be several weeks yet till he's ready to find a race. On a bright note he will (baring issues) get to start at Turfway on synthetic which he seems to have a serious preference to over dirt.

Best wishes with Fenix, mehile. Let us know when he's entered.

Blazing Away had an out on November 25th in a $41k allowance at Zia Park, but in spite of being on or near the lead all the way into the late stretch, and fending off two rivals who tried to overtake him, he was caught in the final strides by three strong closers and finished 4th. Valiant effort, but it just wasn't his day. We made the 10-hour drive (round trip) to see him run and it was our first visit to Zia Park, which is a pretty nice facility.

We've also entered a partnership on a 4YO gelding out of Golden Gate named Could Be the One. He's by Bedford Falls (who is half to Harlan's Holiday and a stakes producing sire) out of a daughter of Sky Mesa.

I should have added that he's now shipped to Zia Park. We don't know if he'll be ready to have a start over the track before the close of the meet, but Sunland Park opens on December 26th so that may be where he makes his New Mexico debut.

Looks like a good one, Laurie! Best of luck!

My Birdstone colt has a half sister in your neck of the woods, Whodatisaywhodat. She is entered at Zia Park Dec 10 Race 6. Mine are all at the farm just now taking a much deserved break. With Turfway Heating Up the money so much, December looks to be a continuation of Churchill and is going to be Much Tougher. In prior years it always was somewhat, but this year the really big guns are hanging in till the end of the year. Hopefully it will soften in January.
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....

Thanks, Madelyn. He's had his first work over the Zia track now, so we're waiting to hear if he'll have an entry there before it closes.

Whodatisaywhodat is trained and part-owned by Greg Green (no relation) and up against a couple of pretty tough Todd Fincher fillies as well as a couple with our trainer. (The entire field is all KY breds with one FL bred.) Pretty nice purse. Looks like she's already had a couple of outs at Zia. Maybe this will be her day. Wishing her well!
