mare without papers

Postby springboro » Fri May 01, 2020 8:58 am

I feel like this is a constant issue, but ...

I have located a very nice mare but she went through a kill pen and current owner doesn't have her papers. I'm not sure how other states work, but in Indiana we have to have at least a copy of front and back of papers showing me as owner. Are other states like that too?

Also, current owner says that she has been able to easily obtain dupe papers for $175 for other OTTBs and thinks this would be an option for me. I have NEVER had success in getting duplicate papers without a chain of ownership documented.

Thoughts?

Where would they be requiring you have at least a copy of them? In this day of DNA testing it's not like you would be pulling a fast one in the breeding shed.

Indiana requires a copy of the mare's registration papers to be sent in with her mare registration for the state breeding program... however the 2018 foals and later do not have papers so I don't know but it might change in the future.

we charge 15 a day cheap because we have to hire the van to breed and you will have to pay for that.

Is this that Sam Breaux trained filly? Just being nosy I saw a post on facebook about her.

KY bred, though, has to be sired by a KTDF paid stallion standing in KY. You can't just drop the foal here.
