I'm looking at this horse, looks like he's been unraced since his last race at Mountaineer 7/04 and just sort of materialized recently with an unknown history and no name. His last trainer was Pat Johnston - does anyone know this horse or remember anything about him? After getting his name from the tattoo research, I googled him and it looks like he went down in his last race after the wire. I'd love to know what happened. TIA.

errrrrrr ... damn, I know I saw that race ... might even be one I taped but I'm not real organized so I have NO idea where it would be.

I wanna say it was just a bad step that made him fall and I'm thinking he bowed.

He's not much of nothing. Didn't start until March of his 3yo season down at Gulfstream (and I don't have it written down since most of my files prior to 04 got corrupted) and I want to say it was a low level maiden claimer.

Made 8 starts as a 3yo (all at 7f or more; 4 on grass) between 30 March and 27 Sept 04 at Gulfstream/Calder and only once finished better than 6th (2nd at about 8.5t on the grass in his 3rd start)

Took 5 months off after that 27 Sept start and showed up last Feb at Mountaineer in an 8.5f $4k maiden claimer ... finished 6th of 9.

2 more starts in March (8th of 10 in a $21k MSW at 8f and 6th of 9 in a $7.5k claimer at 8.5f) then finally broke his maiden in his 12th start 19 April 04 at the $4k maiden claimer level going 5.5 ... and they ran him back at 7f on the grass in a $24k ALW 1 June 04 .. finished 8th of 10.

Last start was the 12 July 04 race where he finished 7th of 10 ... like I said, I seem to recall him taking a misstep and falling. Don't remember it looking serious but he's been away ever since. I don't even have any published works on him in the last 13 months.

Wow, aren't you a veritable fountain of information! Thanks from one Sam to another. That's bad news you think he bowed. I haven't met him yet, just got sent a picture. The lady hasn't had him long and wants out of him ASAP. Since my menagerie of permanent residents is at full capacity anything new has to be a resale so a bow = no go. The lady says he's clean legged but I don't know if she knows what she's looking at. I'm having a vet check him and a Flying Pidgeon gelding she's ended up with tomorrow so I'll know for sure then. The picture I have is dark and I can't see his legs very clearly, can tell he looks seriously dejected though!

Like I said, I'm not POSITIVE it was a bow, that's just what my memory synapses are saying .. I know there was one who did bow about that time, but I'm not 100% who it was.

The sire is an obsession of mine so I've fairly accurate race records on all the get ... I just tend to lose site of them when they DNF on me. Periodically I hear why, but not often enough to make me happy.
