Bogus horse or wrong data?

Postby madelyn » Tue Mar 28, 2006 11:38 am

I was researching a client's mare and came across this entry in the PQ database with NO corresponding horse in the APR:
http://www.pedigreequery.com/index.php? ... LFO&g=5&l=

In fact there is no Rudolfo at all in the APR.

Suggestions?

I can't document a 1993 Rudolfo in the APR, EPR, at BRIS or the JC. Fleet Regatta is shown as barren for 1992, and her record has no subsequent entries until 1997. The source referenced in '93 Rudolfo's notes field doesn't cover anything >1950, if it's the book I'm thinking of.

Lucy - when I pulled up the name Rudolfo in the db I noticed that the 1909 model was showing as sired x Sir Huon. Per ASB X, it was Sir Huon or Batts. Since in that circumstance the default is the last cover (and BRIS lists Batts only) I went ahead & changed him.

Rudolfo is Legit....he was foaled in Venezuela. His dam must have spent a few years down there, which would explain the gap in her APR entry.

The notes attached to his pedigree actually belonged to the '09 Rudolfo - he must have been deleted & re-added at some point.

Good looking out! :D

Thanks so much. This is one time the PQ database was more accurate than the APR!

It happens more often that one would think with foreign-breds - it's not so much innacuracy, as the fact that not all counties share their data with BRIS. Had the mare been exported to, say, Argentina, whatever foals she had there would show up in the APR.
