Yay, Breeding Season's Ovah!

Postby austique » Tue Jun 27, 2006 12:31 pm

I just got word that my last two mares checked safely in foal. We're having 8 next year  should all continue to go according to plan. Even our trouble mare is gestating like a trooper  We only missed one that we bred. Oh this is such a relief after last year! Just keep hanging on folks cause there's sunshine following that rain :D At current count we're expecting 3 Chief Seattle's, 3 Roaring Fever's, 1 During, and a Cappuchino. :D

Best of luck, I hope they all hang on to their babies! That should be a great brood you'll have next year. Pictures will be a must. :)

Three of our four were bred early in 2006. The last one was covered on May 31st. She has passed her 15 day check, but I don't really relax until they get to 60 days. So far though, we're in good shape.

Thanks LSB! We're past 45 on all but 2. One was one of those "Let's just breed her on foal heat and see what happens" and the other had reabsorbed early and then wouldn't cycle normally, but she's an old pro, so we're hoping she'll hold this time around.

I wish you continued luck as well and we'd best see photos of that More Than Ready next year

LOL, pictures are something I can always do. Just to pique your interest, here's a picture of the mare that's in foal to MTR:

Pretty pedigree to go with a pretty mare! I like the cross too. Lots of Teddy. I'm quite fond of lots of Teddy

She could be Officer's twin

Based on the photograph (of TF)...your selection of More Than Ready as a mate for your lovely mare seems to be a wonderful choice.

Best of luck.

FOS and austique, I'm glad you like her. She was a filly who looked like she might be able to go places, but unfortunately her career was totally compromised by strangles. So here's hoping she does better in her second job as broodmare.

Very pretty. She looks like a baby herself.
