OUIJA BOARD conquers the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf

Postby LaTroienne » Sat Nov 04, 2006 11:59 am

This is the greatet performance of the day so far: Frankie Dettori just took her out at the end and she won magnificently by 3 lengths. She's one of the greatest mares I've ever seen.

FILM MAKER got a terrible trip...was the better horse IF trips were equal, IMO!

Film maker got little but chuckles from ESPN commentators over her repeated second placings....
I have one word for that.

I wouldn't be shocked if FM was better in the shed. Gotta love Dynaformers but she's got a lot to her. Just wasn't as good as her majesty. Could Film Maker've ever beaten Electrocutionist? I doubt it. She'll get the last laugh over a lot of her fellow runners this year...I bet My Typhoon'll be pretty good there too.

I'm talking "strictly trips" and "rides" here. No prejudices for or against any of them.

IMO, a better trip/ride for Film Maker, would have seen a different finish. When the rider finally got her clear after being pinned in the entire way, he beat the crap out of her to hold second. She didn't spit it out. That tells me, a better trip would have told a different story.

Luck and good riding plays a huge part in the whole picture. Film Maker was lacking both of those today, IMO. Dat's all I'm sayin'

Systranbox.com translates the above as: "That is everything what I say"

How close is that translation?

From my humble German sight on Dutch language: a really good translation! :D

But You can translate it in a sense of "i'm speechless" as well.

Ouija Board is a great mare, but we shouldn't take anything away from Film Maker who has had a magnificent career. The fact that she has been placed behind a great horse several times should not detract from her own accomplishments, as well as her longevity as a racing mare. And as a broodmare by Dynaformer she has the potential to affect the breed in a significant way.

Let me preface this by saying that, although I had the BC coverage on all day, I had the constant distractions of a 5YO and a 9MO to deal with, so my observations may not be the most accurate... but it appeared to me that Ouija Board didn't get the best trip either, really. Wasn't she boxed in for most of the race? Or am I thinking of a different race? I think she was, hands down, the best in the race.

Yes, I thought so too. (boxed in on the rail) Once Frankie D. got her swung outside, it was all over but the shouting. My impression was Ouija Board was much the best in the race.
