The Arizona Juvenile Stakes at Turf Paradise will be renamed in honor of ill-fated star Lost in the Fog, who set a track record in winning the 2004 race, track General Manager Eugene Joyce announced. The 22nd edition of the Dec. 31 race will be called the $50,000 Lost in the Fog Juvenile Stakes.
In winning the Arizona Juvenile in 2004 as a 2-year-old, Lost in the Fog, ridden by Russell Baze and trained by Greg Gilchrist, set a track record for 6 1/2 furlongs (1:13.55), winning by more than 14 lengths.
Lost in the Fog won the 2005 Eclipse Award for Champion Sprinter. Diagnosed with lymphoma cancer in August 2006, Lost in the Fog was euthanized in September.

I was sure that Golden Gate would do this at the first opportunity; it's a damned disgrace that they didn't move faster and be the first to announce it. Magna! Blech!
