Well we play this patiently waiting the arrival of our new foals...if anyone cares to participate....here you go.......
foal 1---
Dam Booties(Seattle Morn/ Overshoe) Sire Summit Climber(Mr.Greeley/Peak)
We thought about keeping with tradition of her mother...naming after shoes only instead naming all her babies with the word Sole...
We have come up with SUMHEARTNSOLE,RUGGEDSOLE,MOUNTAINSOLE,SUMBOOTIFULSOLE,
foal2----
Dam Bad Cattiude(Notable Cat/Blitchon) Sire Summit Climber(Mr.Greeley/Peak)
her first foal we are nominating as SUMBADCAT,this will be her full brother or sister
thought since it is a love story between our stallion and her that we would name with the word Sum..for Summit...so we came up with SUMSAYLOVE,SUMWAYSUMDAY, my son being a footbal player wants to name it IRONHOUSEand call it Harvey in the barn after his weight lifting coach and gym.I have a barn name picked I really want to call it if its a boy Rocky...but if boots has a boy we could call her baby that for Mountain Sole????
Well goodluck and have fun!!!

I was actually thinking the same as Madelyn but I didn't want to seem negative, since having new foals to name must be a real joy. I've never thought about it before but there was one called Makeithapencaptain running in a race one of my horses was in (and yes I have spelled the name correctly). I did visualize the caller trying that and felt quite bad for him. I did think of Climbing Bootie but I wasn't too impressed with myself. BTW is that too many characters?
Jockey Club allows 18 characters.
No offense, but I agree with the alloneword folks. It can be a bit much. We have a horse in our barn named Teeithiandletitfly, and every time I have to write or type his name I get a pang of annoyance. I think it's a cute name, I am just sick of writing it!
I do like SUMDAYSUMWAY (Sum Day Sum Way, Sumday Sumway?) I think that's catchy. Kinda takes into account the whole "chasing dreams" aspect of racing. And I like SUMBOOTIFULSOLE (again, maybe SUM spaces?).
Good Luck and Happy Foaling!

I don't usually shore up the naming process until I have an individual in front of me, or at least on the ground. I find that I've subconsciously been hoping for a horse of the wrong gender for the name, or that the name I pick no longer seems to fit this particular babe once he/she presents himself. And if I pick the name out early, and don't reserve it in advance, then the name is taken by someone else when I'm ready.
I like your choices, by the way. Just keep checking availability before submitting the requests.
