Given I'll Have Another's sale to Japan, thought this thread deserved a bump. I'm still stunned about Empire Maker. It's hard to get better breeding. He's had some success., and I think Bodemeister should get a lot of interest at stud. I just find it odd. Leave it to the Japanese to throw some serious money to get the stallions they want that are underappreciated in their home countries. They've had some luck speculating, haven't they? I can't figure out why Juddmonte let him go. You'd think of any horse they'd have wanted him in particular to be a success, esp. after losing Toussaud. She had a string of fillies toward the end, I believe. Why let go such a top son of hers?
Are there stallions you're afraid are on the radar of Japanese farms? I'm a little amazed they haven't snagged Smarty Jones yet.
