Wallydabally had his first post-op workout---5f in 101.4; best of 18 at the distance.
gee, is that exceptional after a gelding? Guess he's not sore no more.

Hi Toccet,
That's great news, hope SG gets rain...Concerning Wally, that was an excellent move and it looks like things will begin paying off soon. Then again, maybe the vet was standing behind him with a knife....that would give me the incentive to run like hell:>) TJ

Gelding is not only the 'ultimate equipment change' - it's an important bit of handicapping information, especially for a horse who is 'first time back after...[the aforementioned equipment change]"...

While it doesn't always mean the horse improves - I find that if he was knocking on the door of winning or finishing in the top three before or often leading and full of run in his races then late just seemed to flatten out...I've found it worth paying attention to.

Can't wait to see how Wallydabally does!

It would sure motivate me, and I don't even have that kind of equipment to protect!

Rain ain't gonna happen...but it's good to know he's ready to run.
RE Wally, I thought the same thing.
Either he's not sore anymore, or he's running from the vet.

Hi Toccet,
That's too bad....but it looked like Gary was going to pass on that race either way. He worked Silent Glory in company with a nice Stakes placed 2YO named Manhattan Day, 4 Starts: 1-1-1-0 $80,628. They both worked a mile in 1:46.80 over the training track 4 days ago, which is slower than the main track. he should be good and tight off that move.
Wally will be just fine...there's no doubt he was in a lot of pain....Honor Code went through the same ordeal, but they were able to salvage one of the jewels. Of course you know AP Indy was also a success as one of the first to ever have such an operation performed. Any word on Modiste?? TJ

Hi T.J., yes, I do know that.
Modisye is going to train back slowly upstate and not return to race possibilities until december.

Hi Toccet,
Thanks for the update....Modiste ran in a key maiden race first out when running 4th. The horse that finished behind her in 5th came back and won, the horse who finished 3rd came back and won. The 2nd horse came back and ran 2nd to Rachel Valentina when she broke her maiden. Bringing her back at the end of the year, she should be the queen if she stays at Aqueduct. TJ

TJ :)
I really appreciate the comments--I just don't have time to look that stuff up and it is SO good to know. Very encouraging.

Hi Guys,

I'm taking hubby (who couldn't care less; in fact is rather hostile to the idea of this ownership venture) and twins (almost 6, my girls!) to Belmont Saturday to see Silent Glory and Wallyabally. Then we're going to stay for a race, per Rachael's request, which works out perfectly as Silver Ride ( a fantasy stable horse when I was "practicing ownership") is running in the first. My allergies can't take any more than that, I'm afraid . . . I'm really looking forward to it.

That just reminded me to make an appointment to see my doc for new allergy meds...Gary swore by Singulair, but the side effects were too much for me. Going to try a traditional antihistamine, but prescription and really strong. I mean...my eyes get blood red and feel like they're bulging out wether I touch the horses or not.

I didn't know you were allergic to horses, Toccet. That's really too bad. I hope the new meds work. And enjoy the visit!

Ugh. Hoping doc would shrug and prescribe Zyrtec...but he remembers how I looked when I last came to hm after horses.
I have to get Zyrtec, AND Advair inhaler, AND steroids for the whole weekend.
It's depressing. Then again...he could be trying to keep me from feeling ANY discomfort, and all those meds are overkill. I don't mind suffering...it's the extreme suffering I mind. ha ha.

Met Silent Glory . . .Wally is actually at Aqueduct. Anyway--what a sweet, intelligent horse. He was extremely quiet as he was having his standing bandages put on, and let me stroke his nose and feed him carrots and apples (he was so careful not to bite my fingers that he really had trouble with that apple). Later (after Gary's guys offred a "pony" ride that my girls were too scared to try), I went back to his stall and he left his full bucket of grain to just socialize with me---looking right at me with his ears way up while I talked to him. For all that though, they said he gets very fired up when working. He may run this weekend--fingers crossed.

Oh--and I did Advair and Claritin plus eye drops---doc didn't prescribe steroids or Zyrtec after all--don't know if it was an error or I misunderstood--in any case I did MUCH better than I usually do.
HOPE!
