He seems pretty dead right now. Anyone seeing anything on the horizon?

I hope he is not a one horse stallion. Maybe he will get it in gear when his next crop surfaces.

I found these negatives in Tiznow's pedigree.

The negatives are Nice Dancer by Northern Dancer---Pia Star, by Olympia---Prince Blessed by, Princequillo---and Seattle Song by Seattle Slew.

These under performing individuals are tilting Tiznow's stallion producing ability.

Stallion's runner production ebbs and flows. I'm sure Tiznow will have many good horses hit the track in the coming months.

I sense that your choice of the words sure and many (which I bolded) might be a bit optimistic.
Certainly it might happen...but based on what I've seen thus far, I have my doubts.

Best to you.

He is really cold right now but his sales numbers are still strong thus far in 2006.

I'm really quite floored by it. I don't know I guess I thought he'd have some nice 3yos pop up mid-year and nada. He's icy, icy cold.

And before the "his oldest foals are 3yos" minions pop up, I know that. I can read, but its surprising that such a well-regarded young sire who got off to a fairly promising start with a very nice young filly is so cold at this point in time.

Though I haven't looked into the specific numbers... I suspect that part of Tiznow's problem is a lack of soundness in his foals. His sire is notorious for unsound progeny, and many of his full siblings had difficulty staying in training. Just a thought...

Lack of success for Tiznow would be very disappointing for the tail male line of Man O' War, in which I have a lot of interest. Do you think Tizbud will have the same problems, or is there hope for him?

Being a full brother to Tiznow, we will have to wait and see how Tizbud will be delt a set of genes positive or negative.

Wasn't Tiznow a bit of a late developer? Maybe his foals are going to be that way too. I remember reading they were actually (pleasantly) surprised when Folklore popped up so early. But I hope that isn't his claim to fame, he's such a nice horse.

Folklore's dam is also by Storm Cat, so I wasn't too surprised by her earlier success, or her early retirement.

I wonder if due to his size he may be getting foals with OCD problems simply because he was a hot young sire and they'd go through the prepping mill.

He got 5 or 6 yearlings last year that sold below $10,000 and you would have to think that was bad x-rays. Maybe somebody who's looked at a few would have an idea?

He has a couple of three year old colts--Enforcement and Well Armed--who were discussed in glowing terms earlier in the year. I guess they've gone the way of the injury box, however--I haven't heard anything about them lately.
