Del Mar fatalities reach a dozen

Postby CA Michael » Tue Aug 15, 2006 7:44 am

From today's Daily Racing Form:

Fatalities reach dozen

It's Who You Know, a 3-year-old colt, became the meet's 12th fatality after he broke his left front sesamoids and fetlock midway through Sunday's first race, a 6 1/2-furlong race for $40,000 maiden claimers.

Of the 12 fatalities, eight have come during races in the afternoon, four during morning workouts.

It's Who You Know was the 9-5 favorite in the race, his first in a maiden claimer. He was trained by Doug O'Neill, for whom It's Who You Know had made his three previous starts, all in maiden special weight races on the turf. He began his career by making two starts for trainer Greg James
