Broodmare sires?

Postby Fairplayfarm » Tue Jan 16, 2007 9:45 pm

Just curious since im very green in the TB breeding industry about the following stallions and or their bloodlines as broodmare sires? Or sires in general, what is everyones opinion of them?

Malabar Gold - Unbridled x stormy spell (tsunami slew)
winner of over $325k with first foals just starting to run....how is unbridled's line as a broodmare line?

Bankbook - Mr Prospector x Silent Accoutn (Private Account)

Zamindar - Gone West x Zaizafon (the Minstrel)

Citidancer - Dixieland Band x Willamae (Tentam)

Phone Trick - Clever Trick x Over The Phone (Finnegan)

Spectacular Bid - Bold Bidder x Spectacular (Promised Land)

Minstrel Dancer - The Minstrel x Belle Gallante (Gallant Man)

How do these stallions rank?? Or what is everyones opinion on these lines as broodmare sires and or sires in general?

I believe that Spectacular Bid is considered an excellent broodmare sire, though not as successful a sire in general as one might have wished given his race record.

Citidancer (recently pensioned because of fertility problems) is liked by many as a broodmare sire and I believe there is thinking that as a sire in general he would have been extremely successful had it not been for suspect fertility. There was a drf article about Citidancer that was published this last August - I'll see if I can find it. Even so he has been a very good regional sire and broodmare sire. He is the broodmare sire of one of my partnership horses who has broken his maiden at MSW level and has performed at well at allowance level on the turf.
